Nvidia GTX 280 - IN STOCK NOW!!!

i bet ATI are laughing there t*ts off now looking at them prices
best bang for the buck ATI by a mile your going to be able to crossfire 2 4870s for the price of 1 gtx280 and still have change left over

Or they could have crapped their pants at the performance of the 200 cards compared to their imminent cards.

I suppose nvidia will keep the price as it is until the Ati cards are out then re price or keep the pricing the same pending on how well the 4xxx compare.

Thanks for the reply ghost i saw something on inquirer i think about these and the new ati cards being bottlenecked by the rest of most current systems i am not that up on it all so was curious :).

well if you look at the performance of the 4850 that was tested the other day i think they will be well happy
i think the 4870x2 isnt going to be that far behind and is going to save you at least £100-200

im sorry but they dont. im not silly, i know even my g80 gtx struggles at 1920x1200 with high end graphics and AA and they are quite a chunk faster than the gt's. you only have to look at the results of the cards in the gtx280 reives to see the average framerate dip in to the low 30's and even lower in a lot of titles.

You mean for Crysis?

Something wrong there. 4870 expected to be £230 so a 4870x2 will be around £460 (going on the 3870/3870x2 price difference) - same price as a GTX280 so no saving of £100-£200.

Plus if two 4850's are close to a GTX280 then two 4870's or a 4870x2 will beat a GTX280 albeit for the same money.

Still, good enough reason not to buy a card today.

I barely use my PC for gaming since I got my 360. Apart from CS:S, and that doesn't need anything amazing graphics card wise.

I barely use mine for gaming since upgrading to Vista :( bloody Microsoft software... it ran most games fine before the upgrade and now it runs like a three legged dog!!!

I reckon i'll be skipping this gen, with the exception of cryis the 3870x2 plays everything i want at the res i want, the price of these cards for the improvement imo is not worth it.

I'm busy still skipping the last gen too. If you can call a rehash of old GPUs a new gen.

My 2900XT has yet to find a game (apart from Crysis) that it can't play on max. Let's just hope Farcry 2 works :)

That's right... and remember... "GPU's are more important than CPU's Intel, now you remember that!" said Nvidia, the scary green monster to the Big Blue Giant

Madness in terms of price's I was looking to get an 8800GT 512MB just so i can play Age of Conan with more enjoyable FPS. But when i heard the ATI 4850 is about the same price and should be better looking at initial reviews im gonna stick with that.

P.S the comment about watching paint dry was a classic :D
