the way im looking the 3870x2 is now around £230 depending on make so i would say the 4870x2 is going to be around £330-360 so that is saving you over £100 on the cheapest gtx280 is that £100 going to be worth it for maby 10-15fps

They might be in 6 -12 months but you have to look at the price of the 4850 and 4870 cards.

4850 = £130ish
4870 = £230 ish

Therefore 4870x2 will be £460ish

Don;t forget the 4870 is meant to be quicker than a 3870x2 so why would ATI sell the 4870 for less than the 3870x2? Nvidia certainly isn;t with the GTX280 vs GX2.

As long as you run at least 1920*1200 with plenty of AA, it shouldnt be a problem. A 3ghz c2d should be fine. Obviously older games would be cpu limited, but whats the difference between 150fps and 250fps?

a) Why mention UT3 in the blurb? My GT plays it on max just fine.
b) Cinema quality? Most cinema screens are soft and fuzzy

i was going to say: a bit much posting it in every forum topic even (motors?)(or as far as i can tell)

i brought my 7800gt when it came out for about £300 (roughly) and before that had a 6800ultra (agp :O) cracking card but that cost about the same. now , ill not spend over £150 on a video card.

i guess ill be waiting a couple of years for these to drop by which time i would have upgraded my mobo , hopefully have a much better cpu, ram, and then new gpu tech will be out.

i wonder how much profit nvidia are making.

These cards are really badly overpriced. I'm not really happy spending much over £150 on a graphics card either, maybe £200 if it was that good, I wouldn't mind spending £300-320 on two graphics cards though as there's benefits in having two for me.

As has been mentioned you can get a card for £100 that will play all games better than the 360 or ps3 with better textures and framerate and resolution. The people who buy these top end cards are stupid/rich/both.
