F.E.A.R on vista ?

ive just installed fear on vista and i must say it's crap,it starts ok then gets really laggy a few mins into the game.
my specs on my pc are good and the game has been updated to the latest version as well.
has anyone got any idea's about my issue ?
 
Bit more detail about your PC might help - drivers, hardware, etc.

I'm fairly sure I've seen it played fine on Vista64 but I could be wrong.
 
conroe 2.4ghz
4gb ram
8800gts card
vista 32
never had a game lag like this one does since installing it on vista.
worked fine on xp
 
which drivers?

I assume you've tested other games to see if performance is as expected?
 
1) What graphics drivers are you using
2) Do you have Logitech SetPoint software installed?
 
I'm not sure whether it's the fault of Sierra or Logitech, but from what I've read on the Sierra forums, FEAR really doesn't play well with the Logitech SetPoint Vista drivers.

If you have a logitech mouse, then tbh the setpoint drivers do pretty much naff all, and can be removed. If you have a G15 keyboard or something, then.. I'd read through the Sierra forums to try and find a fix.

Saying that, I bet you don't have any logitech hardware now :p
 
Have you got fraps ? How much does it dip by ?
I can install it tonight and have a look and see if I have problems, if you want ?
I do have a logitech G7 mouse and G15, so I can look into it, i do remember there being an 'alt + tab out of FEAR and then back into it, when running' to solve it, iirc. ~_~;
 
I has similar issues with a logitech setpoint mouse and keyboard, ended up having to go into device manager and disabling all the HID devices, this solved the problem but I eventually replaced the logitech with something decent

works fine for me, but then again I don't have the setpoint drivers installed - they don't actually do anything that the Microsoft drivers can't.
I can't fault Logitech's hardware - my MX518 is an awesome mouse - it's just a pity their software sucks.

I had one of those keyboards that had a n LCD display , and obviously this wouldnt function with out the setpoint software installed.

Can not fault Logitechs hardware the keyboard was great, but their software sucks big time.

i have a g15 keyboard and a logitech mx revolution mouse,do you think these are the problems ?

lol.

The Logitech SetPoint drivers for your G15 are causing the chug in FEAR, as I stated previously. Unfortunately, your options it seems is to

a) uninstall FEAR, or
b) uninstall Logitech drivers

Tho, if you google more than I did, you may find a fix.
 
this is the fix i found and work's a treat
Go in "Device Manager"
Expand "Human Interface Devices"

Disable all "HID-compliant device"
where Hardware Ids begin by :

"HID\Vid_046d&Pid_c041&..."

How will you know the Hardware Ids ?

- Right click on the device and select "Properties"
- Switch to Details Tab
- Select Hardware Ids Property in the drop-down list
