Anyone watching the US open? *spoilers!*

Looks all over now Rocco will be gutted he'll probably never get another chance to win a major let alone beat Tiger Woods mano a mano like he has almost managed today.

Still it will be a nice memory he will take with him for all time, not many will have played tiger like this. I am sure he will be very happy. :)
 
How Woods won that is beyond me. Throughout the tournament his drives were wayward and his putts were continuously coming up short which isn't like him at all.

Thats probably why he's the greatest sportsman of all time imo :).

Agreed, as the comentator said one of the mosy likeable guys on the tour, he is like that all the time apparently.

Takes two to make a playoff, hats of to you Rocco. :)
 
The best major in years. Well played Rocco and Tiger. I hope the PGA over here takes note and sets up Royal Birkdale in similar fashion for the Open next month. Tournaments this prestigious should be won by the best player who must play out of their skin to score around par over four days. Constant 67s and 66s are entertaining, but the sheer struggle endured by Tiger and Mediate this week was fair better viewing for the purists.
 
superb course - well set up and indeed Rocco made that a fine fine match. Hats off to him but when you come up against the best sportsman of your era, then sometimes your best is just not good enough.
 
I recorded it and watched the last 90 mins when I got in last night, only for my sky plus to come up "End of Recording" when both players were on (what I assume was) their last putt on the 18th. Gutted.
 
It was an incredible match, full credit must go to Rocco for making it such a competitive finish. You just knew Tiger would pull it off though, it's what makes him the best golfer of all time IMO. Even with a gimpy knee you would never ever bet against him.
 
That commentator at the end was an arse with Rocco, 'So Rocco, at your age, whilst you were waiting to take that putt, you must have been thinking that you will never get another chance to win a major!' (or something along those lines)

Was a great play-off, and nice to see Tiger taken right down to the wire. Had never heard of Rocco Mediate before this, but after watching him over the tournament he see's like one of the nicest guys on tour (especially liked the bit on the play-off hole where he made out he was going to throw the ball on the green with his free drop).

Suppose it comes down to Wood's A game is good enough to beat anyone in the world, and his B game is good enough to still allow him to compete against anyone in the world.
