The Mass Effect (PC) Discussion Thread

Word of warning, if you want to get any of the squad member achievements, you need to stick with them right at the start....and I mean, really right at the start. Basically, as soon as you're on the Citadel don't do anything else apart from going to the tower, then interrogate Fist, talk to the quarian etc..

I ended up picking up a lot, if not most of the sidequests on the Citadel as I walked past them; not even progressing or completing them, and had Wrex and Tali as my allies through the entire 2nd playthrough - and I still didn't get the achievements. You have been told ;)

I'm about half way into the main quest now, gotta say I'm really enjoying the game a lot but some of the side quests are seriously dull :o

Identikit planets with the same basic obstacles and maybe a sandworm thing now and then...nothing compared to Oblivion's side missions.

Still, the main quest is a ripper and some of the side quests so far have been decent, i wonder if anyone has made a list of the decent ones as opposed to the "find something, go down a tunnel, get ambushed, find memory chip" ones.

Either way i don't it to end too soon ;)

All the generic planets felt very SWGish, some random mobs about, the same buildings to go inside and loot, maybe shoot a few things. Way too samey.

The Citadel is good, as a few more side quests open there once in a while as the plot progresses.

Wish there were more mini-games, not even any space combat  and the quasar is nearly identical to Pazaak from KotoR, just with less control over the numbers you draw and no quests associated with it like KotoR, or the Witcher for that matter.

Yeah all mines/labs/freighter look the same so bit of a bore but I did them anyway.

Amazing game haven't been so involved since playing Dreamfall: The Longest Journey.

Got to admire how they can come up with so many names for different planets lol.

Some of the planets can be deadly though, theres a few were u cant save when you enter the complex and they have rocket wielding mobs in there that do massive dmg and theres some who have the biotics, they are also insane if you dont have the right armour, as they can knock you out and kill you before you can recover.

I went infiltrator, thinking the sniper rifle would own, ha was i wrong, it waves about too much and thats with a default acc of 60 ( added mods to improve acc) and if your getting shot at then it moves about far too much to get a decent shot, and headshots arent instant killers ethier :(, i usually end up with my pistol instead.

The shotgun is insane with the right ammo, 1-shot most stuff, if not then the fastest model makes short work of the leftovers.

Ordered the game yesterday. Was originally going to wait for the price to lower because I already have it for the 360 but.... I needed something to play on my PC.

Should get it delivered today. Only played through it once on 360, and never really concentrated on getting everything out of the game. This time I'm going to slowly go through it making sure I do everything.

This is EXACTLY how I have been feeling - hit the nail on the head there

There have been quite a few moments where it has all felt a little 'MMO'ish? Almost like you expect to see another player rush into the same base you have just looted on your way out, shouting 'lol!!11!! Lootz!!!11'

Still, its a great game

I'm having a few issues with the sounds. Sounds are missing and the codex isn't speaking now. I'm using a Sound Blaster Live! value OEM, ancient I know. Using XP SP3.

Anyone know how I can fix this?

Well completed this lastnight... Now i'm gutted... Really enjoyed it... Had a great character at the end, managed to hit the level cap and have loads of cool gear (was a total tank), plus 9,999,999 credits left to spend... :D

Can't wait for the DLC, but i know this will only be a short expansion... Oh well, guess i'll have to wait a few months and replay the game, only this time don't play as a Paragon player...

I installed it yesterday after work, only played for a few hours (Got to the citadel.) But I'm having trouble with sounds during some cut-scenes. Its like the sound effects dont work, but the voices do.

I'm using a x-fi music card. My drivers are upto date as far as I know. Anyone else got this problem?
