Cumulative PS3 sales pass cumulative Xbox 360 sales in Europe?

Surly none of these figures matter, the only one that they are concernd with is the attachment rate for games sold per console, id be much more interested in these figures. Last time I heard the 360 attachment for games was the the clear leader.

Also, is it worth mentioning that this is Sony's 3rd outing, you think they would be dominant, I think MS have done pretty god damn well consdiering its their 2nd only console, whats gonna happin on their 3rd outing?

I *think* Wii has the highest attachment rate recently.

MS have done really well no doubting that, tbh I think all 3 have done well, especially Nintendo. MS got a great head start, Sony are catching up and have done great with Blu-Ray, and Nintendo have sold stuff like crazy.

Not worth arguing over though imo, not one of those 3 companies gives a crap about you, they just want your money.

PS3 sales are increasing ahead of 360 a year after launch, not bad for a more expensive machine with less games.

Brand Power and BluRay,

my Dad has a PS3 - but he has never played a game in his life, he hates them - he uses it purely as a BluRay player

A big survey was done in USA recently (no attach rate figures exist apart from this, except in fanboy's heads).

Without looking it up exactly, it was something like 2.46 for 360, 2.26 for ps3 and 1.86 for Wii.

Not sure if attachment rates really matter on either side these days

MS is much more interested in downloadable media - and Sony are interested in BR's

a lot of games have been designed with 2 or all 3 consoles in mind and been lesser for it and the really unique games are getting longer and longer dev times

This was extremely evident in the Cod 4 parties we played. The difference between winning and losing a game was depending on which side of the pond got the host.

My best experience now are in co-op game types rather than matches.

Agreed! If you're not going to give us dedicated servers at least give us some means of selecting decent hosts.

They make profit in the games etc though, not in the hardware. People buying PS3s and then not buying games certainly makes the PS3 look more popular than it might be, but it also means Sony aren't really making any money from such sales.

After a few revisions hardware generally becomes quite profitable, it's usually only early on in a consoles life-cycle that the hardware is sold at a loss.

not really.

Sonys 2nd outing produced the PS2, which has done a fair bit better than the 360 + XBox 1 combined.

The PS2 didn't have any competition though really, until XBox 1 was launched that is.
