Forza 3 on two discs?

The issue I have with PS3 installing Inoshishi is that more often than not it DOESN'T improve performance. It took me just over 10 minutes to install MGS4, only to hit 2 load points in 20 minutes for example. The HDD is used on PS3 to equal performances from other machines because BR reads too slowly.

I don't have a problem with that (installing - though I'd rather not), what I have a problem with is the declaration that it does help performance (on PS3), because the performance with it still isn't that great, no more than other consoles do reading straight from disc.

I was one of the ones stating that the HDD was a great addition to the original Xbox and also to the PS3. All Xbox360's SHOULD have come with large HDD's as default because at worse case scenario, developers can always use it to pull themselves out the ****.

You are right though, people will always complain one way or another.

Your right it doesn't always improve performance installing a game compared to the 360 version of a game, Devil May Cry 4 was one example of it improving things, notably shorter loadtimes throughout the game on PS3. As you say it makes a bigger difference with the BD read times however.

I am one of the people who believe that if the HW is there for the dev's to utilise then they should take full advantage of it.

Just get fed up of everyone moaning at something this gen.

Anyway rant over, we are going way off topic but I feel better now :p

:D

Has anyone got the supposed real pic that is floating about?

Cant help but think more will result in less. They dont need 2 disks to improve the gameplay or physics, it'll just be more random shiny stuff or internal textures which I'll never use because I dont own a 60" screen and would rather just see the track clearly

They can put it on 20 disks for all i care. Awesome Forza physics plus 100 tracks and 400 cars, yes please!

I also like the idea of VIP membership. The online community on Forza 2 is very strong atm. This can only help it further.

More importantly i would love them to increase the grind size to 16+ :D

lol that would be awesome. I just hope they don't come up with 'collect all cars from region x' achievements because I'm still accumulating the cash to complete that!

To be honest I dont care how many discs its on as long as it's good. I loved forza to bits when I got my 360 at christmas. online community is pretty darned good. as long as they dont remove that or dumb down the car improvments I'll be happy :)

I have done this acheivement, hours and hours of enduro races :( all i need is the 1mil earned online and i'll have the 1000 :)

The thing is, nobody is ever going to be happy whatever the manufacturers do.
I think if they'd included a 120GB HDD from the start (and had it standard in all 360s) and charged market value + reasonable markup, then everyone would have been happy.

Disagree; few people moaned about the original Xbox. All games on one disc; all consoles had an HDD.

Seriously, is it such a big deal that you have to wait 8-15mins when you first put a game in for it to install if it improves performance?

IMO yes - consoles should be about putting the disc in and playing.

Jeez I thought multiple disc games went out with the ark. Seems I was wrong :)

DVD9 is big enough for this generation :p

I actually think that DVD9 is the only real weakness of the 360 - with textures becoming larger and larger. Some games such as Oblivion couldn't be done over 2 discs because of how open ended it is.

Games like GTA4 though are fine I guess, simply because it is story line a lot of the time.

Meh. I personally don't mind installing on to a hard drive - as long as the game runs ok afterwards. Then again, as a PC gamer I suppose I am used to it :D

*EDIT*

Oh. the disclaimer I own both a 360 and PS3. I like both equally and play both equally thing in the post.

Most of the tracks in FM2 bored me to tears, having to swap a disc would have been way more exciting... If they do better and more varied(read no endless variations of the same track with bland dull scenery) tracks, including real racing circuits from around the world, then I'm more than happy to pop in another disc.

I'd be happy if the 2nd disc was an install, but as I've got an Elite and tons of hard drive room I know space isn't an issue for me. Surely the tracks themselves wouldn't be that big if they re-use textures that are already on the DVD that'll be in the drive.
