when i put 4x 1 gb ram (2x kingston, 2x ocz) into my mainboards socket i won't get a display signal and all fan's are running on full-speed. when i'm running on 1,2 or 3 gb, everything works fine.

mainboard is an asus p5kr with the latest bios version 0605.

any ideas ?

yes. i've had the same mainboard before and it worked with 4gb but then i returned the board and got a new one with which it doesn't work.

Possible faulty stick, download memtest and test each one.
Are all the memory modules same speed, voltage ect.

Rob

This is usually caused, believe it or not, by ram which isn't properly seated. Unless it's seriously faulty it usually won't prevent the computer from booting up properly.

Either way, why not remove all 4 modules and put them back one by one - make sure to use a lot of pressure so that they're securely in and all the white "security clips" are fully depressed, too.

had a no signal prob recetnly when i overcloced my cpu and ram and forgot to change the ram volatge to 2.1v sooo check your volatges and maybe up t hem a lilttle bit for the ram

8 hours of memcheck without any errors, so the sticks should be fine.

the voltage is set to 2.00 V. thats within the specification of both brands.

imo the sticks are properly seated. i've got my 4 gigs running at the moment but when i turn off my pc later and turn it on tomorrow i'm pretty sure i'll get no signal again. so i will have to remove the 4th module and stick it back in to make the pc work. i've never had such problems before...

Overclocking?

I had this problem with my P5B-Deluxe. When all of the slots were filled with 1Gbs it would not boot up. Put everything back to stock and it booted perfectly.

i'm not overclocking. everything is running on stock voltage. sometimes it looks like a loose connection to me but when i put the pc on and off for several times it often works again.
