I've probably only spent half an hour playing this game online. Everything about it just feels sluggish and slow like getting in cars etc. Major disappointment in my eyes.

I know what you mean, it felt sort of like that to me as well. I mean not in the way that the game takes ages to load or that you have to wait for anything (apart from when you're waiting for one person to press 'Ready' :o), it's just the whole feel of the game.

Admittedly I've only played the deathmatch and team deathmatch modes but it doesn't feel as tight and solid as other online shooters out there. I think the race modes would be pretty good though, and the missions musn't be too bad.

To be honest though for a game that's meant more for just free roaming and mission based scenarios, Rockstar have done a good job of making it into a online third person shooter, even if it does feel slightly slow in places.

I like it but only really when playing with friends, the combat is a bit unbalanced, you seem to die very very quickly. Races are fun though.

GTA4 online has been the biggest disappointment for me this gen. Everything about it is rushed and shoddy. It could and should have been amazing, but in the end we get a truly awful lobby system and uninspired gametypes that do nothing to show off a game like GTA.

Cant get into it at all, its a major letdown for me. I play one game with the hope that it will grab me and I just end up pineing for some more COD4.

I play free mode with friends and the race mode. Most of the games are rubbish and listening to 12 year old kids screaming down the mic throughout the lobby and during each game really spoils the multiplayer experience.

I am playing it to try to get last multiplayer achievements but they are crazy! Complete the team missions under a certain time is impossible with all the idiots on live and for the other one you have to win every race and gta race on all tracks - 108 wins :s I think ill give that a miss.

Occassionally. Some of the modes are pretty decent but some are just mundane and very repetitive, such as deathmatch. Also the performance at times can get really bad.

The levelling system seems to require too much time, it's almost like an MMO. I've played it quite a lot and I'm only level 2, and I've got loads of cash to go until level 3. Don't think I'll ever get the max level achievement.

Yea at level 4 you need like 100k to level up then it doubles each time its ridiculous.

I think thats a good thing though as it stops people rushing through to get achievements. The ones who do get them will deserve it, the ones who are part of the GTA community. Those who will go on to play the game for years to come.

I adored the Race & GTA Race modes and had hours of fun racing and killing, but the 'run and gun' games were a spectacular let down.

I got so very close to gaining level 3, but unless I played the FPS game modes making money was very hard work. Maybe a PC version with mouse and keyboard would be better for the death match sessions and make it less frustrating. This is also a game that demands way more than 16 players online , as some of those maps are very large and the carnage quickly dilutes all over the city.

But I'm not sure I care that much anyway as I've left GTA IV behind. It just doesn't have that special something to keep bringing me back. :(

Deserve it? Derseve it because they played the game for a ridiculous amount of time online? Effectively grinding, doing the same thing over and over even though they have become bored of it.

Well I think the vast majority that stick with any game for a while after release do so because they enjoy it! Who would play a game for hours on end just to get a few points when they don't even enjoy a game!

I still go back to Raven Shield and Age of Empires etc and if they were on the 360 it would be nice to have something to show I'm a veteran of that game.

I still go back to GTA Race for my MP fix. It's good fun and there are some decent tracks. However, the "spoilers" (as I call them) can all too easily ruin a good race- you'll be first, way ahead and then you get taken out by some nobjockey camping the RPG spawn, who has no interest in racing. Or they go straight for the buses and do their damnednest to completely block the track. Fie on them! Fie!

With regards to ranks, its not hard to earn cash on it...$1,250 for an average race win...which is not a very hard thing to achieve over and over since the majority of people who play ranked races seem to lack any kind of skill whatsoever. :D

Same goes for deathmatches for that matter...10 minute deathmatch ~ $10k.
