What do you reckon - daughter telling fibs?

The damaged car reversing so the door hits a tree or something at the side of the road and tries to bend the door past the hinge and sheer it off.

If you look at the top corner of the door where it meets the roof, it's not longer flush so something must have gone into it with quite a lot of force to bend the door frame.

it seems unlikely to me that it was the rear of a truck just because of the smooth rounded profile of the dent in the door.

I was looking at that but its likely that the door itself isn't warped, its been moved on the hinges so its not quite in place. Perhaps DMP could clarify.

This bit is confusing. The "dent" in the door could easily be a direct result of the outer skin being pushed and folder back meaning the rest of the panel has to "dent" to conform. However the rubbing strips have obviously fallen off and there looks to be scuff marks under the lock

Before I can give my full OCUK crash investigation verdict.... how was the car parked? Side of a busy road, if so nearside or offside to the curb? Car park?

Ignoring the above I'd hazzard a guess at something like a big van, bin lorry etc. backing into it, puncturing between the wing and door then doing a tin opener as it pulled forward.

Shes dented it and then when the passenger door opened it folded it back.

This happened on my sisters clio ages ago, thing is no one even hit it, I think the hinge just moved out of alignment.

Looks like was a big can opener to me!??! Im going to jump on the bandwagon and say i refuse to accept that was done by another car, such a sudden, clean cut like that. There any low walls at the boyfriends house, maybe one that goes across the font garden and stops for the entrance to the driveway, she does typical new girl mistake of turning in way to early at hits the corner of the wall?

Edit - maybe on second thoughts i am happy for it to have been a lorry or something, as tbh that may not have even felt it...?

maybe it got attacked by a pushbike? or a small furry animal..:)

I read that as...

maybe it got attacked by a pushbike, or a similar furry animal. :D

To be honest, I can't tell what it was, it looks too low to be a bollard, due to the shape of the torn metal, but it's also too low for the back end of a lorry or van (I know for van as I opened my front wing on the back corner of one).

Ocuk detectives strike again :D

Agree with the hitting a low, stationary, and more solid object.

Also it is on the left side, wouldn't a normal person park on the left side of the road (well I would :)) thus meaning it is facing the pavement and exposed to OAPs in their battle armoured chariots ?

I was thinking this - you don't generalyl park on that side of the road, unless its a one way street as its much more difficult with other cars around.

Fibs!

Or parking on one side of the road only and you approach the road with the cars being parked on the right, spot a space, and pull into it, leaving your left side open to the road.

Is there absolutely no damage to the plastic front wing at all? Has <whatever it was> taken the side indicator lens off as well?

Thats at just the right height imo, look how low the rear bar is on this artics trailer.....

One way in which that damage could have been done by another vehicle is if it was something square like some sort of commercial vehicle with some sort of stell framwork on the back which may have reversed into it. The damage is too regular and square to be a car but something like the big metal bar on the back of an HGV trailer could easily have done it.

That is exactly what i thought as soon as I saw the picture, I've seen near identical damage on more than a few cars myself, ahem. ;)

Shame on you for doubting her Dave. :p;):D

The main crease in the part that is folder back though is quite low on the Clio, if you look it's shaped like ) and the center of the curve is quite low, lower than an arctic's bum isn't it?
I may well be wrong, but I always thought they were a fair bit higher than the hight of that wheel...haven't driven close to the back of an arctic though, so don't fully know. :p

I can give her lessons how to handle French cars

I can give her tips and demonstrations how to destroy French cars. :D
