I'm moving into another room in my house over the weekend, and unfortunately my second line was installed in the room I am leaving.

I could run a long cable from the micro-filter to my router, but I am not sure what effects long line length have on speeds.

I know really long network cables see speed decreases.

Erm, are you using a network cable or a phone cable? The extra few meters should not make any difference. If you are worried, get shielded cabling. You can run 100m for network cable ok.

The signal has alread gone through several hundred metres of cable so an extra few wont add any noticable attenuation. You might be introducing more noise as the cable will pick up background electrical noise from the mains electricity in your house. You can mitigate this by trying to avoid running the cable parellel to the mains wiring and disconnecting the orange wire.

Cheers! So it shouldn't really make a noticeable difference, that's good :)

Provided you don't use crappy flat extension cable - the miles of cable between you and the exchange are twisted pair.

I've just added a 10m extension from my master socket to my router and i've seen no adverse affects.
