Do you rinse your dishes?

I rinse if there is more than an acceptable amount of suds left on the crockery/cutlery and if those suds are sliding too slowly from said items.

Rinse. a) because I want to get rid of the fairly liquid off them, especially glasses, and b) because although the water is technically clean, due to the washing up liquid, it's still physically dirty (if that makes sense), and I want to rinse it off the plates.

Rinse, otherwise there will always be a horrible soap residue on plates and glasses, and I don't really want to injest soap.

I rinse if I'm not using the dishwasher.

My mother in law rinses before she uses the dishwasher, really irritates me for some reason. She wont have it though.

We used to do this when I lived at home... food on the plates tended to build up in certain corners inside the dishwasher and ended up stinking. A quick 2 seconds under the tap before it went in made all the difference.

Always rinse.. I don't follow the argument that it can't really hurt you. It's not dirt you're eating, it's chemicals, albeit in small quantities.

I have a nightmare with my flat mate as not only does he not rinse, but he'll wash the dishes in stone-cold, filthy water. For example one time we had a curry the night before, but being lazy I left the plates / cutlery in the washing-up bowl to soak overnight. First thing in the morning after breakfast, he adds a few drips of Fairy liquid to the cold, filthy curry water, and proceeds to wash up everything in it..

Me.. I clean the worst of anything off the dishes, then fill the bowl with piping-hot water, wash, then rinse. Simple.

It's got to the stage where I do pretty much all the washing up, because I'd rather be sure that it's not covered in a film-like deposit of poo and chemicals. :p

I always, always rinse. Whether you can taste the detergent or not doesn't matter, it's there and it can't be good for you. Not rinsing is a DISGUSTING and very BRITISH habit that I haven't encountered anywhere else in the world. Don't get offended now. :)

Don't get offended even though you've managed to have a nice dig at the British in there... hmm ;)

Yes...I rinse

A bit off-topic but one of my ex-flatmates 2 weeks ago left her pans unwashed by the sink for a week. Looked inside and there was so much green mould growing inside the pans it was unbelievable!
