Black screen crashes with 8800GT and new PC

I recently purchased a new computer intended for gaming (about 3 weeks ago). I can run games perfectly on it, but after about an hour or so of playing any game, the screen goes black and the whole PC freezes up (while the sound repeats constantly, at least this usually happens, however sometimes the sound just continues as normal) and the monitor goes on standby, then I'm forced to manually reboot. I have read that many other people have similar problems, and it's really becoming a headache.

I also emailed Point of View about the problem, and they suggested that I tighten the screws on the fan of the 8800GT, to make sure that it touches all the memory chips, and if this doesn't work, to get a replacement. I've done this but I still get the same problem.

I currently use the 175.16 (newest/stable) version from nvidia. I have also reinstalled vista but it still happens.

My specs are as follows:
Intel gamer
Point of view 8800GT 512MB
pentium core 2 duo E8200
4GB corsair ram (TWIN2X 6400 DDR2)
windows vista 32 bit home premium
550W corsair PSU
cooler master centurion 534

If you need to know any other information I can get it

Some additional information: My GPU temperature is 57 degrees celcius while idle, and averages between 70 - 75 while running games. When I ran furmark it went up to almost 90. I have not experienced any graphical problems such as artifacting and the crashes seem to happen at random times.

Any help would be really greatly appreciated

Also I didn't buy it from overclockers, I just thought I may as well try this forum since it seems to be a good place.

Those temps seem OK. Try using Rivatuner to increase fan speed just in case the temps are being reported incorrectly.

This is the first issue with a POV card I have heard of. Not quite sure of the cause. Perhaps someone else will be able to help more. :)
