A couple Heron portraits I was working on last weekend.

Mostly taken whilst watching it fishing, I used Liveview for the 2 portraits believe it or not.. Having my head pressed hard against the back of the camera for up to an hour gets pretty painful, although liveview hammers batteries, it really is useful.

I watched for a while as it frolicked around in the water, then went for a fly, (obviously not with liveview lol)

Loving the lighting and composition of those first two. Getting pretty close to the water there Tim.:D

Edit; You don't happen to have a landscape version of 2 do you? Would be interested to see what the Heron looks like a bit bigger and in landscape with that gorgeous light.

lol, I was quite low down but no waders this time, besides I like it when i'm in the water a little as people tend to leave me alone.. You would not believe how annoying it gets when everyone and I mean everyone says "nice telescope mate!!111 :-]"

I'd love to get a landscape shot, especially of number 2, I did a crop of it but its far too much for a print, i'd need to get a lot closer which is very difficult. But to give you an idea of what it'd look like:
