Less heat, less power = less cooling
with potential for higher clock speeds too.

But 65nm is higher than 55nm so it must be more powerful, right?
I think it's going to be the same price as the 9800GTX currently and the current 9800GTX will drop in price a bit.
I think that's mentioned in the pc perspective article so god-knows how reliable that is.
Yeah but look what happened to GeForce 8, they cut it down at the same time
A bit? 9800GTX slated to drop in price by a half
Now if that isn't responding to the performance threat of the 4850 then I don't know what is!
So 9800GTX (old) will be same price as the 4850.
Where that leaves the G92 GTS and GT on pricing I'm not sure.
By half? I read more along the lines of a 10%-20% price drop. I guess we'll see in time anyhow.
you cant be serious
cheapest 9800gtx on ocuk is £188 inc the vat. if you say it drops to half price thats 94 quidish. i just cant see that happening. although if it does well then hmmm may just replace the 8800gt with the 9800gtx.
Well, if it ended up like that it'd be nice indeed. I suspect we'll get gouged though :/
As it is I'm still not tempted to upgrade my 8800GTS640. Partially due to my limited resolution and partially due to not being a fan of Crysis![]()
I know what you mean but if you knew for sure you could get a 9800GTX for £120 and you sold your gts now while it was still worth good money, it wouldn't cost much to swap.

From what i've seen isn't the 4850>9800GTX
Tough to say.
Most of the comparrisons have pitted the 4850 against the 8800GT, not the 9800GTX. Also the 'new' 9800GTX, which will be priced to compete with the 4850, is offering faster GPU, shader and memory clocks. I suspect nvidia have spec'd the card to specifically compete against the 4850.
