I enquired about an E-on apprenticeship a while ago and the other day i received an update letter saying for the next 2 weeks only they are recruiting in my area (Birmingham) and can offer me two apprenticeships.

One is a gas engineer installing and fixing boilers and central heating in peoples properties and the other one is working in power generation at a power station which involves either becoming a mechanical engineer fixing and working on the turbines, and other large machinery or doing the electrical engineering side.

The gas one sounds as though it might be more interesting; getting out and about meeting loads of different people... best keep a rubber with you though ;)

gas engineering is the way to go, especially if there going to pay for you to get you corgi registered, how long is the contract with the company?

once you have finished your apprenticeship you'll be easy earning 25-30k a year going upwards later on in life depending on how you work,my mate is a plumber and corgi registered and only 19 and he can bring home 500-700 week depending on jobs they give him...i just hope when i get back into work i can get the company to pay for me to go through a corgi course aswell

dont let this slip through your hands, you'll be laughing you way through life if you can get into it

I have a friend starting in the renewables technology division at EON this September (he is a graduate mechanical engineer) , obviously a very different career path to what your considering, but he's told me that it was one of the best graduate programs he interviewed for.

Hopefully they treat their front line employees just as well!
