Finaly ready to buy my first car!

There are some good examples on AutoTrader for a mere £3000. It almost seems to good to be true, are they genuinely that good and the majority of people just don't know that?

Everyone 'doesnt want a big car' and 'wants a hatchback'

This means good stuff like the Toledo gets ignored.

Pretty much. There aren't that many of them about hence why not everyone knows about them.

Well to be honest it does seem true good to be true. As a first car it seems solid and very quick, and whilst it doesn't have the VW badge it does seem like something I should look into. If I did want to modify it, how many options would I have given it's a rare car?

As many as you'd have for anything else - it's mechanically the same.

So would you personally have a 1.8T Toledo over a 1.8T MK4 Golf?

Be honest :D

On the plus side, if I use Bell I'll get DOC on my policy so I might be able to take my dad's 330i for a ride (if he gets it) so I'm sure you'll approve lol :D

Reached an agreement with the rents.

I've decided on the Seat Leon 1.8 20V T Cupra.

The deal is I will have to pay the insurance and half of the car. It seems like I'm getting a lot of bang for the buck with this, and having seen some on the roads recently they don't look bad either. Now the only problem is the fact insurance is close to £2k and road tax is £200. Should be a great car though, time to get earning and saving :D

Excellent, I havent driven one but they're meant to be fantastic cars. I suppose it will now depend on whether you pay over the odds on one or not.

*Cue flaming 'cos his parents are helping*

not sure i'd be keen paying an extra grand to insure a leon cupra over a gti, whilst it's faster the gti can easily be taken up to 180bhp+ for a hell of a lot less than a grand.

you don't need any other modifications prior to a remap, the only adviseable one really is to upgrade the crappy bosch plastic diverter valve for an aluminium one, like the forge 007p as the extra boost has been known to cause the plastic diaphragm in the bosch ones to fail, which is bad :D
