been meaning to ask this for ages.
On my PSU i have an earth cable that is supposed to be connected to the motherboard through one of the screws that holds the mobo in place (at least i think thats where its supposed to be attached). I have looked through my mobo manual (MSI P35 Neo2 FR) but not found any info on grounding the motherboard.

Anyone have any ideas where (or what) this cable is supposed to be attached for it properly ground my motherboard?

P.s. PSU is a tagan modular 580W (TG580-U15) Easycon series

I used to have that PSU - Its a BELTER :D

You can either put it on top of the motherboard and put the screw through it into the riser or screw it to the case somewhere.

I've done both and ran my system for well over a year - no problems :D
 
I have had the same 580w PSU powering my Quad Opteron ( 2 x dual core CPUs), 2 yrs+ 24/7 at full load no problem. (Now it has an slightly easier life though, an Intel quad core has taken over that heavy duty workload). Anyway, I just screwed that earth lead to one of the empty drive bays I think it is. Basically just screw it to anywhere on the case you can find.
 
The mobo is grounded by the screws which connect the Mobo to the case. That is the reason for the collar of metal around the screw hole on the board. The ground wire in a PSU is usually fitted to it's case. This is why one "grounds" one's self on the case before removing any memory etc.
