Best cooler - Ultra 120 or Infinity?

Quick pop quiz:

I have both coolers on my desk - Thermalright Ultra 120 (not extreme) and a Scythe Infinity (Mugen). I want to use one and fleabay the other. Which is best? On prices, it looks like I'd be better using the Ultra, but I can be persuaded otherwise!

So, quickfire - do I choose Thermalright or Scythe?

But I would imagine the TRU assumming you have a 1/2 decent fan

I've followed up with a bit of trolling around the web, and it looks like they are pretty much the same performance.

I've got either an Akasa amber or a Thermaltake TT-1225 to put on, with a fan controller.

Testing would have course be the best course of action, but I need to get this PC up and running in the minimal amount of time.

The Thermalright is slightly better, see here - http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coolers/display/thermalright-ultra120ex_5.html It's only a few degrees cooler but I'd go for it personally.

Maybe it's time to upgrade from my TT then?

Either the Thermaltake Big Typhoon or the Enzotech Ultra-X CPU Cooler look pretty solid.

I'm currently in the 70's @ load (CPU + HS are lapped) so perhaps one of these coolers would allow me to go further.

Get the scythe ultra kaze 120 x 38mm fan,works great 7 volted on the TRUE.

IFX-14 in tests is shown to be slightly worse than a TRU-Extreme but better than the standard TRU..

I've used both on my Q6700, the true is miles better when heavily overclocked. The Scythe is just too massive and watch your fingers, its like a razor!

The TRUE is great once you figure out the stupid fan clips. Flea the Infinity - no question.

Does this hold true with a slower speed fan? My next build has to be quiter than my current rig!!!
