I've seen 8800GT SLi's beating some of the new cards, and you can pick up 2 GT's for £220

WILL THERE EVER BE A TIME TO UPGRADE FROM 8800GT SLI?

2 years? 4 updates from now?

Yes pretty much ANY single GPU card that is nearly as fast as no doubt it will "feel" FAR smoother!

I currently have 8800gt SLI and only in COD 4 is it bearable.

In crysis it shows my frames are higher but it does not feel any smoother! in fact the single card feels smoother.

I first noticed the kinda SLI mouse lag issue in timeshift and ever since it has been ******* me off

Will sell up and go for HD4870 :)

Minimum framerates are the key. SLI in average framerates may show your two cards been as fast as a GTX280 but it doesn't tell the whole story.

For example (and not true framerates)

Say a GTX280 gets min 19 av 38 and max 57 in crysis

Your 8800GT SLI may well score 40 average which looks good until you see that the min might be 10 and the max is 70.

One 4870 1gb ddr5 might be a better, smoother and almost as fast solution.
