I've just got back the results of one of the assignments for my final year modules and hes given me 56% because he says the CD doesnt work and was unable to read the disc.

I've just tried the same disc in my PC and it works bang on. I've sent the marker/tutor an email saying im unhappy and want the situation resolved fairly.

Just what chances are there of them changing the mark?

I knew the cd worked when i handed it in and i checked it just now, it still works.

Now im thinking if i tell them to mark it again they might say youve re made the cd, is there any way i can proove that the cd was made before i handed it in?

Does the burning software mark the date and time in the root of the CD? Just click on a file the properties then look for last modified, it should tell you there.

I can't help but I hope you get it resolved. That just smacks of them not trying hard enough, which seems to be fairly common unfortunately. They could have at least told you at a more appropriate time...

I had the same last year. CD I used worked on every single pc I tried, except for the tutors, so he wouldn't accept it. Was bloody annoyed as it was about 30 hours of work and he just discarded it, wouldn't even let me show it on a different pc so I never got a mark for it :(

Hope you situation turns out better.

yeah the dates are all from may and before the deadline.

I've been pretty much told to get stuffed....

That's messed up. Am gonna complain big time tbh, aint having it.

I hope you get it sorted but I've had something equally rubbish before. The tutor for one of my 2nd year modules gave 2 options for the practical coursework, I was the only one who chose the 2nd option did the work, handed it in.... and got failed on it. He hadn't submitted to the exam board the two options so it was marked as me having not done any work and I was failed on the whole module.
Worse he wouldn't even try to do anything about, and then he got fired the next year for being useless.

I may be wrong as it looks as though the last modified is when you last saved the file not burned it, you may be stuck tbh I know Nero does a date and time stamp in the CD title but you have to select it.

Can't you just take a laptop / pc in to the tutor to prove it works?

Well he needs to copy a folder on the CD to either his PC or one of the PC's in the university building, as the folder contains configuration files for a program that the uni has.

I did copy it to one of the uni pcs before I handed it in, and it worked fine.

If it seems there is no way to get it changed and they never accept it. write a letter to Gordon Brown suace, i beleive they do actually recieve and read them.

Hmm... I'm sympathising with your plight but it is no way similar to the OP's!

OP: Get your ass down to the uni with your laptop and complain like a mother.

Well I've now read the cd on a desktop machine and a laptop, it works fine on both. I intend to go down to the uni first thing monday morning and sort it out.

thats going a little far...

Most universitys have a board you can complain to if you feel your mark aint right and ask for it to be remarked. I would also go to the students union because mine (teesside union) offer advice and can act as a 3rd party on your side if you go in front of the board.

Email your module tutor (which the op has done)
Email your course leader (not module tutor)
Approach your examinations dept
Go to students union advice centre (if you have one)

If non of the above work, I have heard the head/dean of the school is also happy to help.

thx for that, he is also my course director so that might help a bit.

Definitely appeal to the board / the tutor's superiors and keep the disc safe just incase.

Did you close the session when you burnt it?
