They're not. 350D + rain = expensive repair bill.

D200 will survive splashes and stuff, but most lenses aren't weather proofed. I always just cover everyhting with a plastic bag when it's raining - push the end of the lens (with hood on) through a hole in the bottom and selotape in place.
