Been looking at a few BMW's recently - specifically 320/325/330 i/d (2007). If the base warranty was 2 years (or is it 3?), and I bought one which was 2 years old (from BMW), would they offer any kind of warranty extension, and if so, is it actually worth the paper it's printed on? Just speculating just now, won't be buying until next year.

All approved used BMWs come with a minimum of 1 year BMW warranty which is a solid as the manufacturer's on a new car.

So, say I bought one, it'd come with 1 years standard warranty (i.e, same warranty as that on a new car). Anything I could add for another year which would be similar (whether a BMW product or otherwise)?

You only get 1 year of BMW AUC warranty, or the balance of the factory warranty whichever is the longest. You CANNOT extend the AUC warranty beyond 1 year, it becomes the BMW Insured Warranty which used to be awesome but is now sadly lacking.

You could consider a third party warranty I guess.

Base warranty is 3 years from new.

Seems there are some pretty good savings on 1 year old models; might be worth me considering a 1 year old car, giving me 2 years warranty cover (generally I only keep a car for 2 years, unless economical factors dictate otherwise!). Cheers.

Depends what you are after, I'd have a 2 year old 330i over a 1 year old 320i every day of the week. Can always take out a third party warranty later.

Not entirely sure what I'm after... not adverse to having to take out a 3rd party warranty for a year or so. I like the look of the M-sport 3 series coupes, but they seem to command a fair premium over the saloons.

My handbrake hardly works, I live in East Anglia though so it doesn't really matter, it' as flat as a kippers whotsit around here ;) (it doesn't squeek though)

The handbrake on my 335 coupe sqeaks when I get in and out of the car which i suspect is down to the auto gearbox in park which also holds the car so it might cause some slack in the handbrake cable but I can live with it.
