My only concern that I see is this singular comment on the anandtech review:
That PSU is a heap of crap.
You can run two 8800gtx oc'd with a q6600 at 3.6 on a hx520 with 6 hard drives and room to go for a few pumps and fans.
Hiya..would a Tagan TG800-BZ 800w Modular BZ Series PSU be ok to run two 4870 cards and a Quad Q9450 cpu?
Whats with the attitude?![]()
Sorry maybe that was a bit OTT. It's just I've seen it posted about 20 times now that "great cards, shame you need a 1200W supply"when if you look at the computers been sold with them in and every other review where they have run at 6700W and 600W it was just starting to get at me that everybody keeps quoting that one review.
The only thing that is dissapointing is the fact you need over a 1000w PSU for xfire
Very surprised you didn't pick up on the oddity of the review before people had to point it out to you
That review worries me I've learnt over time not to trust Anandtech.
Hello lay-z-boy, have you got source that provides evidence of the above please because I am very dubious that the Corsair HX 520W will be able to power a system similar to what you have mentioned.
If we take a system similar to the ATI machine I have just mentioned above. A single Nvidia 8800 GTX consumes around 170 watts which equals to 14 amps so two would come to 28 amps. A Intel Q6600 running at 3.3GHz will pull about 150 watts which as said above will be 13 amps. If we then add a couple of hard drives into the equation and then some for the extra headroom, the system will be pulling about 47 amps. The Corsair HX 520 is stated to provide 40 amps on the +12Volt rail so I honestly don't think it will be able to run a machine based around a Quad Core and dual Nvidia 8800 GTX.
The Corsair HX 620W on the other hand will certainly be able to power a system like the above
what you think if i got a 4850, would it be too much for my lowly 4800+
