Corsa exhaust system

so you may have seen my other thread, nice if you had.

anywho, if i was to say get a 2006, corsa 1.2 litre, would it be worth getting a nice exhaust, it would be my first car-and i love great sounding cars (1967 mustang/1969 charger- though obviously i wont get insured on anything that i "really" like, not a chance with one of my dream cars.

was wondering if anyone made dual side exhausts for cars like that or if anything like it would be possible, and would it rack up the insurance a lot? couple of my mates have exhausts on there own cars (chaved up like-yuck) anywho they dont talk about insurance on it (im guessing its pretty high on like a 1.4 clio + other mods).

black corsa, would look pretty nice.

call your insurance company and ask them for a quote.

adding all sorts to mine ended up in £0 difference. but others can get hammered. Guess its down to who insures you. It seems that insurers who act as a kind of third party are better for things like this.

Norwich union would not insure me, but the post office would, they went through Norwich union though ! and adding any mods doesn't make a difference, so far.



still though, 1.2 corsa... custom exhaust... no comment tbh.
 
To be honest, you may not get a lot more help than R B Customs has already given you if you're talking about putting dual exhausts on a...............corsa :(
 
Think he means exhausts on either side of the back, rather than side exhausts!

You must be a bit rich for a 17 year old to afford a 2006 corsa as well!

I'm sure you could get s custom system made like that, but.....why? Why on Earth would you even want something like that on a 1.2 Corsa?

I'm thinking that a side exit exhaust on a Corsa would look pretty Barry'ed itself, to be honest.....

It doesnt matter what you do to the Corsa, it'll sound like a 1.2 litre corsa.

i'd suggest saving the money and using a hammer and nails to make holes along the tailpipe.
 
oh dear - so many negative waves. i meant at the back (sorry for any confusion), ive only just started driving so im not getting anything just now, plus im hoping to get a bt/02 apprenticeship job thing so i think at 17, its best i can do without going over the top insurance wise and i was just wandering geez, calm down and take some prozac....*waits for stupid comeback*

oh and i might even go with the old old style corsa for pennies sake


ill probably not do anything to it, well maybe some leather seat covers but the madness stops there people ;)

I would get anything other than a corsa, get a 1.4 astra mk3. Much much comfier and nicer to drive, really nice to drive infact imo.

I'm not being snobby here or anything and I'm not comparing it with my car but honestly, how can you say a Mk3 Astra 1.4 is 'really nice to drive'? It absolutely isn't. At all. By any stretch of the imagination.
 
Dont buy a bloody 2yr old corsa for your first car. You can get better cars for half the money. It would be a silly thing to do.

You will understand when it all goes wrong and you wish you had never bought it..

not that this is going to stop you! you are 17.. you cant have people telling you what to do right? ;)

yeah i like the look of them sure, but whats insurance like 1.4 min engine?

EDIT: had a butchers on autotrader, seems like they are pretty good but is it worth it for the higher insurance and is insurance group 4 too high for first car ?

When I first started driving and looking at various cars an 89 1.1 Fiesta was more expensive to insure than a 93 1.4 Clio. No one can tell you what to expect your insurance quotes to be because they vary vastly. You really have to get some quotes yourself; a good starting point would be to get online quotes from Elephant.co.uk and try out different cars.
 
The insurance on my 1.2 corsa was higher than my 1.4 astra and the astra was much much better in so may ways. So much fun for an early car.

Enough power, espically if you get the mpi engine (although I think these are only in earlier models) used to keep up with my mates vtr and in a play with a 316 kept up with that too.

For the price and age they are comfy enough and the parts are very cheap. Can be made to look good and big exhausts etc can be had cheap second hand.

Than a corsa and at 17?

I really enjoyed my astra and found it a hoot to drive, more than lickly as it was my first car and to me was fairly nippy at the time.
 
Get something cheap for the first year (I mean sub 1k) as you are likely to have a prang and you will be bored with it after a year and want to change it for something better with your first years no claims.

If you buy a new car that year will cost you thousands in depreciation.

I would plump for getting a better older car and spend the money you would have lost in depreciation on insurance.

For example my first car was a 16v Calibra for £800 and paid £1300 third party to insure (obviously times have change a bit), better that than a new corsa, and you would probably save money.

Modding cars like a corsa just gets people laughing at you, you hear all this noise and commotion and see this car struggling to move along. They are meant as run a bouts not to look and go like performance cars and just look comical with all that tat stuck over it. I REALLY want to tell these people in a genuine help them out way how people atually see them!

I understand the love for cars but until you have driven for a few years and have NCBs you just have to live with naff cars.

All this said you will do it anyway I am sure as anyone wanting to max out a corsa has no common sense so won't listen to sensible advice ;)
