Ok, you and some mates go on a trip, you take your car.............now do you include yourself in the cost of petrol or do you get your mates to pay for the petrol ? If you take your car then your the one doing the driving and also its YOUR car that the extra miles / wear and tear are going on. You could however just pay a share of the petrol. What would or do you do ? I personally always pay but i cant help thinking that i shouldnt as its my car were all going in..........

when me and my mates go out i normaly get them to get me a coke or non alco beer or we take it in turns as whos car we use

so theres no one person paying the fuel bill all the time

I pay too. If its a long trip I get £15-£20 each to cover there and back. Usually only 3 in a car cos only long trips we take are to festivals etc where car is full to brim of tents beer food etc etc.

I'd pay the lot myself, but thats because when my friends drive they wouldn't entertain taking money from me no matter how hard I pushed it.

I would 300 miles ask for a subsidy, only fair. However trip to cinemas or something, just buy me a drink.

For short trips I'll just pay the lot, every now and then we "got up't north" and everyone splits the petrol money between us, includeing me.

Yeh 300 miles mates would chip in between 10 to 20 quid each for there and back, would cost nearly 2 full tanks of petrol in todays prices so only fair imo.

Oh yeah i agree but i was really talking about long trips. I can appreciate that people would pay for the whole journey themselves but tbh if i was going to take my car on a journey with some mates and have to stump up £100 in petrol then i simply wouldnt go - i personally couldnt afford it.

Yeh it is only fair that they chip in, its probably even more fair if they pay for the petrol as the cost to you of the wear and extra miles put on the car will be equal (car dependant!).
I think your mates would only understand this if they owned a car themselves though.

Exactly, you shouldnt have to fork out over £100 if your mates need the same journey. Just work it out on google how far and split costs BEFORE the journey, theyll get out of paying if you ask for the money after the the journey.

It would depend on the trip but for a long journey I might pay something towards it or expect a donation if it was my car - probably not though unless it was a trip that I wouldn't ordinarily be making. These things tend to even themselves out over time or at least they do with me and my mates thankfully.

to clubs ill get a few cokes brought for me and maybe entry. If its to shops or town then no don't pay.

all depends what occasion, If it was to a festival then i and others would chip in. i am not to fused to be honest as id expect my mates to drive as much as me so all even.

Not at all....as I have a fuel card :) I don't pay for any petrol really.

...but years ago it would depend on where. Out for the evening? nope. Somewhere far like a weekend in Newquay or leeds? Yes, I would expect some cash.
