Quick question.

I have a dual monitor setup, a samsung 245b and a Viewsonic 2235wm.
My rig also contains 2x 8800gtx's and a 680i motherboard.
What bugs me is that if I want to use both monitors, I have to disable SLi and if I want to play games to the fullest I have to re-enable it, god what a nuisence?!

I have at my disposal a 256mb x1950pro, and was wondering if I put this in the open pci-e slot would it be able to run the off monitor I use confliction free?

I know I'm probably best getting a lowly NV card but if it saves me the money and puts to use a card I dont want to sell then cool.

Some peeps get issues swapping from Nvidia to ATI or vice versa just because of remainence of drivers left behind and you are going to run both cards with both drivers at the same time.

I would say you would be very lucky if you did not get conflicts.

You should have no problems - we've done this several times in the past without any ill effects. Simply Plug the sli'd GTX's into your gaming monitor and the ATi card into the other. It should run fine.

i have a friend who has sli 8800gts. and a 1950pro in his system he hasnt used any drives for the 1950pro but used i assume windows or what ever is allready there. and uses it a second monitor output soo it can work

Do you think if he installed the ATI drivers then he would get issues ?.

I did, fully installed nivida drivers and ati drivers on my system wouldn't work (XP sp2), so what I did in the end was extract the ati drivers, don't install them, then when you boot up your machine with the ati card in it if windows ask's for any files for the ati card just direct it to the folder with the extracted ati drivers, this way windows will just install the basic files it needs to run the ati card, thus hopefully minimising any conflict with the nvidia drivers, it's what I had to do with my x600 when I was running it with my 8800gtx, I had to do this first and then I fully installed the nivida drivers after, if I installed the nvidia drivers first it wouldn't work.

if your using vista, im pretty certain you cant use that with the nvidia cards in there, i read somewhere all the cards need to use the same wddm drivers in vista, in this case the ati card wont be installed

e.g. 3 x nvidia cards or 3 x ati cards

in xp your scenario should be fine

i might be wrong though :p
