A lot of people have reported getting their RMA's rejected if they don't have the socket protector.

Is it the Abit?

Yeah you can send it back to OcUK and let them deal with it. But you'll still need the socket protector.

What's up with the board?

bios is totally dead i think, clicked sleep in vista and it went mental and died

went to a certain well known pc store yesterday and grabbed a cheap mobo and ram so i could test everything properly, then returned the mobo and ram :P

You can buy a new BIOS chip from the auction site for about £13. They'll flash it to whichever BIOS you prefer. It's a Dutch seller, but their stuff usually arrives within a couple of days.

an rma would be cheaper providing he can sort out the socket cover issue

what if its not the bios? that would be £13 down the drain

And if it is the BIOS?

Well then he gets it sorted out within a couple of days without having to send off his board, only to get it sent back because of the socket protector issue.

Is 13 quid really that much to you?

Well you seem to be adverse to the new BIOS chip option.

Or are you just be argumentative for the sake of it
