Be Unlimited seems to be the way forward judging from the satisfaction of many users on here. I'm a little confused over the speeds offered.

Currently on my BT line I'm getting anything between 3.5 to 5.5 Mbs. When I enquired about cutting over to Be, I was told that they couldn't guarantee speeds over 1 Mbs. If BT can do it, why can't they, or am I missing something.

I'd like to go over (it's definately cheaper) but don't want to risk dropping down to 1 Mbs. Can anyone ofer any advice.

mmm, it says that my ADSL is underperforming (which I expected given the distance I am from the exchange) but seems that I may get around 7 or 8 Mbs with ADSL2+, which is good news :D Deffo going to switch from BT.

There is little prospect of dropping your speed by moving to o2. Don't forget to join www.quidco.com and click thru them for a bungback. Last time I looked o2 were cheaper than BE - it's all the same company - BE shows when using torrents and I'm o2.

The quidco thing is interesting, but I've already spoken with o2 (get a discount for having a mobile contract) and set up the switch pending getting my MAC from BT.

we get the data from BTs LLU Checker, so theres a good chance your line length is incorrect on there.

i did the same thing except i moved from 8mb BT to Be and i'm getting 14meg but my pings have doubled since moving to Be and i've had numerous dns and drop issues, where as with BT i didn't have a single drop in 3 years

Ask them to turn interleaving on and give you a higher SNR profile.

Turning interleaving on will increase my ping even further, thus defeating the object. But they claim to have played with my SNR profile, could just be Be and wireless but still don't see as to why my BT line i was pinging at 7ms on a 8mb line via wireless and it's shared across 3pc's. (i'm not exactly near the exchange about 1km from it)

Yes I got mxied up between the two things of high pings and instability. Have you tried using a wired connection to the router? And have you also tried forcing ADSL1 or plain ADSL2?

don't think you are able to force adls1 through the bebox? and haven't tried wired as i'd need about 15m of cable, but my point is that nothing has changed besides my isp and router and now i'm pinging higher and line quality is nowhere near as good or stable.

if you want to force adsl 1 through the BeBox, give Be* a ring and ask them if they can stick you on an ADSL profile, we can do that via the ISAMs but i'll be honest, 9/10 it doesnt solve mega instabilities, it just masks off all tones past 256.

if you drop me your landline number to email in my trust, i'll crack a line quality diagnosis off on your line and it'll give a better indication as to where the fault is!

btw, i forgot, you can force ADSL1 on the BeBox if you change ADSL multimode to just G992.1.a but i havent got the command to hand.
