Hi guys, used to be on xp until I bought me new laptop which has vista, and firefox is rubbish....keeps not responding and is generally slow.

On xp it was fine, but vista - not great.

Is there a fix for vista or anything like that?

Cheers guys :D

Are you using Firefox 3? Cause I haven't had a problem with Firefox on Vista32.

I remember hearing about Flash making Firefox crash on Vista64, I don't know if that has been fixed yet though.

I had some problems recently with Firefox2 on Vista64. Was fine for months until then though.
On firefox3 now and its working perfectly.

I havent problem with Fx3 under Vista x64 it prefect running as it run so fast

is yer laptop running Vista SP1 or not? I still dont see any problems either Fx3 or Opera 9.5 which I used both, it prefect running as Roadrunner.

Thought people considered internet explorer as the devil nowadays? :D

IE7 is far from evil, In fact Microsoft did a great job on IE7, it is leagues ahead of any of the old IEs. Give it a try with IEPRO well worth it especially if you use Vista :) (I know you might have been saying that tongue in cheek, just to anyone else who jumps on the bandwagon) :P

Unfortunately I screwed mine up so I've been using Firefox 3 Lately.

To the OP also try removing/disabling any Add-ons you have for Firefox, Enable them 1 by 1 to see if any are causing the trouble.

Never had any issues with Firefox 2 or 3 on both my Vista x64/x86 computers.

However my brother had crashes with Firefox 2 and his Vista which was caused by Thinkpad password manager,he uninstalled that and problem solved.

firefox 2 & vista64 on mine exactly as you say, just very very slow to do anything. IE7 considerable better, tried both with/without using a proxy & no difference.
I dont boot into vista often enough these days to worry about trying to fix it.

Not so much since IE7. It's an excellent browser. I've used it since the public beta and find it very very good.

And why install another program to browse the www when there is a perfectly good browser built into the os!?

And yes, I had about a year using FF and I switched back to IE (IE6 at the time).

Because different people prefer different apps. For some people IE is trash and Firefox/Opera etc offer more functionality that suits them. It's all a matter of opinion - just because you get on just fine with IE, doesn't mean everyone should make do with it.

Because so far, there isn't one.

I disagree for the majority of people IE is perfectly fine. Everyone has their own opinion of things though :)

Glad you haven't had a problem since installing FF3 OP, I really do think it is an improvement over FF2, especially loving the new address bar!
