That will power 8800gtx,OC'd q6600 and 4 HDDs.

I currently have a 850w PSU but it's to damn loud!

Thanks :)

and so it begins. will there ever be a "spec me a psu" thread without a mention of the hx units... :p

oh and i have one. highly recommended. :D

edit: and check this post by lay-z-boy to see what it's capable of.....

Yeah it's called my rig.

Q6600 @ 3.6
780i + 4gb + elite pro + 2 odd
8800gtx sli, oc'd
5 os drives and 1 storage drive
2 deltas + mcp655 + case fans and cathodes

Yesico 550watt.

It's silent as it's totally fanless when under medium load. At full load it benefits from a bit of airflow though so i have a sharkoon 1000rpm running near it.

Runs my rig in sig with no problems.

If people used the search function instead of posting "spec me a psu" threads they would see that by far the most recommended psu's are the Corsair HX's. If you even suggest anything different you get jumped on by Corsair recommenders (fanboys?). There should be a sticky at the top of all the forums titled, "Want a psu? Get a Corsair HX". Job done. They may be good psu's but they are far from the only ones available.

I bought a Corsair 620 over the weekend but it was DOA. (first broken PSU ive ever had) Ive just got a replacement so I'll see how this one goes.

Can't find the post, although only quickly looked, which HX are they using?

Used an online calc and my new system supposedly would need a 1.4kW+ PSU to power it...

OC Q6660 @3.6
Crossfire 4850
4GB (2x2) DDR2
2 7200 RPM HDD
2 Optical Drives

a couple of lights and a few fans o0

Thought it seemed crazy, been holding out until the 1kW Corsair PSU came into stock, but guessing that might be a bit OTT.

A crosair hx620 will be fine.

Im currently using a gigabyte odin 550 gt in my Silverstone SG03, when its playing nice it so quiet, however recently I have started to get inperfections from the fan intermittently its usualy a squeeky noise but sometimes its a grind.

I got the odin as it has a 140mm and the PSU fan acts as the cooling fan to my NT06 cpu heatsink.

I might rma this and get something else.

currently looking at

Zalman 600
Silverstone ST60F
Tagan 600 <--arnt these supposed to be the daddy

But people here keep creaming about the corsairs, are they really that good, are they really that quiet?

1.4kw, I dont think so some how. I have a plugin power monitor thing, and it says Im only using about 180watts while messing about in windows, and thats with my ups pluged in to the plugin power monitor and the UPS has my pc(see in sig), monitor, main phone, mouse z680 speakers on standby and a router, connectect to it

One in my siggy i like it quiet or i never hear it....
Modular PSU's are the way forward people !!
