Saw them at the Tower Of London on Saturday.

The tower itself is mad, just thinking about how many great people have walked in the places where the public now may go.

But the crown jewels were pertyy, and the steel doors that keep them protected were huge, was mightily impressed. xD Also with the armory...

Anyone else been, what did you think of the Tower?

Also - I like the way that the "Jewel Shop" is right after the jewels. Seems the same sales technique that places use on children with the Gift shop being after an attraction, with no way to exit other then via that. :p

Not been, but I have seen the Scotish ones in Edinburgh Castle. The door was about 50CM thick!

And was I the only person who thought this thread was going to be about male genitalia?

This thread disappoints.

The thought of looking at the jewels never crossed my mind when I was in London.

Last time I bought the crown jewels up on another forum, someone suggested we should sell them. I still haven't seen them, as you said, I'm more interested in "how many great people have walked in the places where the public now may go" than actually seeing them. As weird as that sounds.

How does onw sell something that one doesn't own?

Sorry, I thought you were implying something else!

Interesting 'fact' - Many say that the Crown Jewels and the UK's Gold Reserved were temporarily moved to Canada during WW2, although this is quite unlikely giving that:

a) It is against the law of England for the Crown Jewels to ever leave the country
b) Given the naval battles at the time, it would be quite dangerous to transport so much wealth over the Atlantic!

Pfft, the English Crown Jewels suck. We have a paving slab! :p
