Konami announces PES 2009 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC

From what i can gather, none where good.
I don't think this will be a good game neither, i think a lot of people are getting over their EA sucks and starting to like the FIFA franchise again, so Konami need to get the finger out to sort pro evo out.

Although i am saying this as a neutral as i don't play football games much, might get Fifa or Pro evo this year though.

Streeteh, I also heard the Wii version was brilliant, my mate really enjoyed it before he sent it back on rental (then went back to Fifa 08).
 
After the last version, and their complete failure to patch the lagtastic problems, the new one will have to be near flawless to get me to part with any cash for it.
 
The Wii version is ace*, but it's a completely different game. The new one mentioned here is based on the "main" (360/PS3/PC) series, and so how good the Wii one was won't really have any effect on it.

The problem is, I played a bit of 2008, but rarely ever in multiplayer (it's the only PES I've bought on PC), and that's PES for me. Single-player will always be a bit of a mixed bag, as I generally just get wound up by either breezing past low-level computer opponents, or chasing the ball forever on the hard levels.

The engine itself didn't feel too bad, although it did seem that players just seemed a bit more clumsy and slower. I guess it's more realistic, but we play PES 5 in uni all the time, and the speed and slickness of that is so much fun.

*Why haven't I played it in ages? I really should.

I didnt like the wii version, it was really just the last ps2 one with rubbish controls :P

I would be wary of buying 2009 after they left us high and dry with 2008 online, i tried it last week and i still couldnt get a match, let alone get to worry about lag.
 
I would say they'd sort online by now surely, but then the last 2 were woeful and as you found out yeterday Mark, Konami's online setup for their newest game, Metal Gear Solid 4 isn't exactly too clever either.

I only pointed out the 360 version because that'll what I'll be buying it for. This year I bought PES first and then FIFA, but I think 09 shall see me buying FIFA instead.
 
I'm not sure about this, obviously those screens are very early days, but i can see them just reproducing the mediocrity of 2008 again. I'd really like to see major improvements in sorting out the persistent bugs, the presentation and I'd like a proper anfield too lol.
 
I thought PES 2008 was better than FIFA even though PES 2008 was pretty dire overall, the problem being the lag online mainly!

If they sort that, i'll be buying it!
 
From the one gameplay shot there, it looks very similar to 2008. That's not a good thing.

Although my dislike of 2008 was based on the core gameplay itself, but since a lot seem to be mainly annoyed with the poor online, fixing that alone may be enough for most fans.

Sums it up really true statement taken from Konami press release.

"The new game has undergone a stunning graphical update to ensure its players look and move even more like their real-life counterparts."

Anyone like to tell me where this stunning graphical update is.
 
This is not meant to sound fanboyish, but maybe Konami should make PES only for 1 platform. Didn't it all start to go wrong when they started developing on the 360 too? Spreading resources too thin maybe? They seem to be the perfect arguement for why F1 games should have stay with Sony. I'd rather have 1 platform exclusive stonking version, than 2 duffers tbh. Maybe cos i don't care what console i play on.
