Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots *Snaaaaake! Edition*

There are occasions where alert is disabled, one of which is the Gekko fight. Another is a boss fight later in the game, you'll hear that noise whenever you're seen, but an alert won't be added.

ive been playing it for a while, think im still on act one, bascially ive just met the guy that you can purchase weapons from and found myself an oil can. Bascially it just hasnt grabbed me like i thought it would have, im trying to be sneak but that seems to fail.

I'm still on my first play through, I'm trying to get through sneaking the whole way and not killing anyone.

Somehow I picked up 8 kills on Act 2 so I'm going to have to start that act again.

I have pretty much just started playing as i just got my new PS3 after my laser went last week >.< But i was just wandering how long is the game? Is it the typical MGS 8 hours gameplay + 8 hours cut scenes?

Depends how you play. Stealth tactics will add more hours, but i would say the average would be 8 hours gameplay + 12 hours cutscenes for MGS4.

Do you get anything special for completing big boss extreme with no kills, alerts, continues etc? Gonna give it a shot if so.

Apparently you get the big boss emblem & the patriot when the following conditions are met:

mg wiki said:
Beat the game on the Boss Extreme difficulty with 0 deaths, 0 alerts, 0 kills, 0 recovery items used, 0 special items used, and in under 5 hours. Also awards the Patriot.

source (warning: spoilers).

I'd have to do an hour of yogo before trying to get the big boss emblem. I don't think I could take playing MGS4 on big boss extreme without being in some sort of zen like state. lol.

Truth be told, if you're doing the Big Boss emblem run, he's not far off at all. I've seen somebody beat the game in 2.47 hours.

but then you need to factor in the playtime to achieve that and the actual playtime on that run itself to get that time :p

the game is around 16-22 hours by the average person on their first playthrough of the single player game including cutscenes. i think thats fairly accurate.. nearing 30 hours is a bit over the top
