After reading so many threads about cleaning i thought i would add my own. For about a year now i have got into detailing and cleaning my own car keeping it looking its best. However recently freinds family and just general word of mouth from joe bloggs have got around and im getting phone calls for me to do their cars. Im fully booked up now for about 2 weeks.

I usually take around 4 - 5 hours night one and come back after work next day to do finishing touches (interior etc)

Make sure you have proper insurance for the more expnsive cars, I woul dhate to see a bill for a refurb on an alloy, or respray of a wing.

You dont charge for that!?

You should at least charge for your consumables. I would ask for at least £50 per car.

I think you should start charging so people dont take advantage of you!

If I had the time to do other peoples cars I'd probably be charging at least £200 for a full detail (although that would include machine correction)

Like i say it is not a business, if any money where to change hands surely it would have to be taxed?

where abouts in wales are you? im picking up my new car from wales tomorrow ;) :p

South Wales. Merthyr

To give an idea - for a paint correction and full clean up I will be paying over £300 for my car to be sorted.

Its done by someone who is an expert and highly recommended (he is booked up until September atm) so you should not be aiming that high at the moment but you should certainly charge something.
