I bought an 'as new, unused' Striker extreme of Fleabay which after much fluffing around is now doing the dreaded Cpu init not playing wont boot routine. I'm going to try the various 'fixes' this weekend but if the raindance and voodoo fails it'll be rma time. :( (lesson to self dont buy electronics of fleabay, stick with OcUK for proper warranty)

The seller 'cant remember' where the board was bought so I cant go back to the retailer, any ideas on how to RMA to Asus? it should be covered by the 3 year warranty....I hope

I to made the exact same mistake, Im currently waiting on a PSU with a 8pin CPU 12v connector and will use a E6750 instead of my Q6600.

Spent hours on it though!

The best fix however Ive heard for this was to glue the mobo screw washers to the underside holes of the mobo as it is poorly designed and often earths out on most cases. Ive noticed that users with perspex cases get a near 100% success rate.

No offense meant to anyone :P

I just wish people would stop buying the asus 680/striker boards - they are crap and WILL die on you.

Rroff if Id start reading this part of the forums before I did I wouldnt have believe me!

I'm on my third Striker Extreme and it has been fine for a year now. Unfortunately the second one worked fine when I brought it back to the returns department of my old company but this one worked straight away. Bizarre engineering :)

Good luck if you have to go back to Asus.

A friend of mine got "given" a dead P5N-T. We emailed Asus and were told that as the board was under a year old, they would replace it without a reciept. Brilliant. The UK RMA service would be in touch to sort it.

A fortnight passed. No email. We emailed Asus again. They apologised and assured us the RMA would go ahead soon.

Another fortnight. We emailed Asus again, this time more strongly worded. They replied, apologising and told us they would look into why we had not been contacted, and to hold tight.

Again another fortnight, and we'd had enough. We got as many Asus phone numbers as we could from the internet, and started phoning. There appears to be a "technical support" number which just tells you to go to www.asus.com - wonderful.

Eventually we got through to sales, and were told to contact technical support by email. When we told them that we'd been doing that with no luck for over a month, the guy just hung up.

We tried again the next day, and luckily got a nice lady in sales who processed the RMA for us. We now have an address to send to, and it finally appears that the wheels are in motion.

I certainly won't be buying an Asus product in future though.

any chance you could PM the number your were calling ?
all I seem to get is fax machines and IVR ring around

I can't PM but I don't see why I wouldn't be allowed to post it.

If you get an ***hole then just hang up and try again a few minutes later. :)
