BFG Nvidia Lifetime warranty

no.... if you modify it, warranty void. fair enough. if your psu goes bang and takes the card out, warranty void. again, thats fair. if your card goes bang or develops a fault of its own and you havent modified it in any way. its covered.

In the case of a PSU going bang, the PSU manufacturer would be 'responsible' but since you're not going to get anywhere with that, your only option is to RMA the board, which in my opinion is perfectly fine since it broke through no fault of your own.

The only things that void warranty are physical damage and taking the item apart, So benting the pins inside the 775 socket, snapping of components ect ect

As 99% of the items that are returned are repaired, Dell and Samsung repair there LCD's, Abit and Asus repair there motherboards, Seagate and WD repair there hard dives. Things like burnt out PCB's, snapped of SATA headers stop them from doing it, So aslong as your item isnt got any physical damage you'll most likely get a replacment.

just did a bit of searching and from a few forums it seems people say it is not transferrable and only applies to the original owner

Hence the need to transfer receipt to new owner. Then when it goes wrong, send it back and just say you have moved address.

It's not like you are expected to not move address in your lifetime is it?

That's what I did and it worked a treat.

The BFG is 10year UK, that's a fact (best go by their info not a stores).

And many lifetime warranty's are not worth the paper they are written on.

That is correct, only 10 years over here, lifetime in the states.

Anybody still own a graphics card from over 10 years ago? I don't so don;t see it as an issue really.

Nope, I will use my Ultra till the next round of cards and I doubt it will be 2009, it will be Aug-Sep 2008 even if a Die Shrunk refresh or a new Ultra (could be a die Shrunk 280+GDDR4 or 5) ;)

When there is no option but to give something of the same or higher specification, is that worked out on Memory size & Shader Processors etc...?

The reason I ask is because it's now been 3 weeks that my Sparkle 8800GT has been back at the manufacturer and I told the retail shop I bought it from that they have a further 7 days (28 in total) to get an 8800GT back to me. They do not sell them anymore so would I be entitled to either a refund OR an 8800GTS?

Suppose you can come to some mutual deal, they can value it by Cost or Spec.

Offer to pay some cash towards a higher spec card. ;)

It became faulty after 5 weeks so I am hoping that I should be entitled to a full refund. Not sure on that subject as I paid via Credit Card. They did say that I could pay the extra for an upgrade but my answer was if I wanted a better card, I would have bought one in the first place.

Surely they have to issue me with something of the same or higher spec?

Yep that's the law, same or or higher spec or all your original money back.

Can't see them doing the last but if you bought one 2-3 months ago, that would be enough to get you a 4850 to replace it so it wouldn't be too bad.

The problem is 8800GTS are also end of line now so if your really, really lucky you might get a 9800GTX.
