!!!IN STOCK ATI 4870!!!

What?

They're a business ffs. Supply and demand pricing has always been around, these cards will sell well today regardless of price.

Just like we are consumers, and thankfully with more price transparency thanks to the internet we can choose where to purchase our goods from.

Yep as said OCUK have the full UK stock allocation. Other places won't have them for a week. Mark my words ;)

they might have the full his stock, but they dont have the uk's 4870 stock. mark MY words. i know other retailers that have them in right now, specifically asus cards.

I am happy that I really want to wait for the 1GB cards. Hoprfully prices will settle down in a few weeks. There isn't anything really major out I want to play at the moment anywa, and started playing wow again for something to do for a month - mostly to help my guild with Black Temple.

of course they will. but all it takes is for one person to say 'no thanks, i'll get it elsewhere' and bam they've lost 230 quid. times that by ten. or 100.

You could say that for many goods OCUK stock but they still manage to produce good revenue/profit numbers at the end of the year so I doubt they lose sleep over it :)

Totally agree with last few posts.

It's OcUK's right, as a business, to charge what they like.
It's my right as a consumer to pay what *I* like.

The thing is, if OcUK price-hike, and I decide "I'll wait a week and pay a non-inflated price", then as a consumer I'm far more likely to continue passing other business to my new "favoured" supplier. Same for a consumer as it is for retailers - if a supplier treated a retailer this way, how many more orders would the retailer place with the supplier?

Yep, myself and a couple of mates tried 7 places out of curiosity, NONE of them have stock whatsoever regardless of what their sites indicate

When people say the day 1 price is not good price/performance I dont understand, do they want the card given away, what part of "average of 80+% performance of a GTX280 for 50% the price" is poor ? For single slot cards only the GTX280 and ocasionally the GX2 are quicker, and for an average of £80 and £220 more expensive, it's quicker than the new 9800GTX+ for approx same price, and when comparing to the likes of CF4850 and SLI8800GT not everyone wants 2 cards or to have to replace their MB

^ Make that 9 places, 2 of which weren't even aware of the product, 3 say they now have stock but strangely cant ship until next Monday lol

This is probably a stupid question but are the 4870s with 800 shaders as per the 4850s? I can't see from the OCUK listings... (I'll look around more but have managed to miss the boat on this one) :)

the same just different mem type and clocks :)

p.s what the heck was wrong with my sig? its been fine for the last 3weeks lol

Its supply and demand...

They have all the cards, so they can wack another £20 or so because you either pay it or you dont have it, simple as that.

Same with the oil situation...

As long as people pay those prices, they will sale them for that. I know I would and so would you if you were honest.
