!!!IN STOCK ATI 4870!!!

What happend to the price that did a mini peek-a-boo last week then? ;) Would be welcome if OcUK staff could hint as to when the 1GB version is due, as im sure they know by now.

OcUK are never cheap on release for items that nobody else has stock of.
Remember when the Core2 Duo CPU's were released.
OcUK had free stock before a lot of other people so they priced accordingly - wait a whie and you can get the lower prices.
GTA4 was £39.99 on release day - £25 these days.

I'm now just deciding if a single 4870 would make a nice upgrade over my single 8800GTX.
£200+vat for the 4870 and then whatever I could get back for the 8800GTX.
Benchmarks show it would be considerably faster...or do I just wait...

I'll wait around til after my holiday, aint' going to be using my PC much around then. Ati x300 for the win!!!

P.S My mate brought a HIS 4850 on friday and those little screwdrivers are pretty nifty. Nice and small, little light on the end thats helpful on the inside of the case, and most random of all, a spirit level

I may just get 2 4850s instead then :p. That was the plan anyway

Why? You need a good motherboard to take advantage of it, you need good drivers from ATI, games that can take advantage of crossfire, and some good airflow to handle Crossfire. It will just be better to wait for the prices to settle a bit in a couple of weeks, and I've checked a couple of other etailers, and most are actually more expensive then what OCUK are asking. It's launch day, most places don't have stock and the few that do have the right of passage to ask a little more from the early adopters. If you're that concerned about price just leave it for a week or 2 and when most others have them in stock competition will dirve the prices down.

For me it has to be a 1gb card so I'll wait until they arrive and I hate beta testing crappy drivers so by the time the 1gb hits the stores on mass that should be resolved.

HI there

For those are you moaning about the pricing, its like anything in demand with poor supply prices are high...

However for those who are happy to wait until next week check out our PowerColor pricing, I've just improved our deal with them and now we have 1000+ due for delivery Friday this week, but may get delayed until Monday due to Typhoons in Hong Kong.

Pricing as follows:-

PowerColor 4850 512MB GDDR3 @ £104.99+VAT
PowerColor 4870 512MB GDDR5 @ £169.99+VAT

There you go, that is far more aggressive pricing and this stock is due in days, most likely to be Monday so not too long too wait. :)

I understand the economics behind it Gibbo, you guys have stock and actually any etailers iv seen WITH STOCK AVAILABLE dont beat your prices for the 4870! Nice to see the Powercolour cards coming in also! Again OCuK right there off the bat with the ATi stock!

With the powercolours coming in at around £199 with Vat does that mean the others will drop also>?

Well done Gibbo. And my predictions to wait a week to see price drops on ocuk has come much earlier.

£199.74 inc is a great price and so is the 4850 for £123.36

Well done OC Uk you have broken my spell of no-upgrading again and forced the money from my hand!.......I have jsut picked one up from the store and I'm about to install it!
I think the price is fine for a top end card!
