Guess the film from the still

Pointless and unecessary comment. :/

I agree with the sentiment though. Not that many people watch Asian films so it is a little bit of a niche. We should stick to well known films with obscure frames to make it harder.

I don't think Asian films are bad by any means, simply not watched by that many. I know plenty of Asian films which are much much better than say American ones. The Hollywood usually ruin them when they "convert" them.

You could look at it as an attempt to let people know there is more then the Hollywood 'blockbuster' then :).

It also provides a bit more interest then the generic American action film.

People already know there are good foreign films out there though.

There isn't any point in posting films that are so obscure that hardly anyone has seen them.

I could post stills from Hukkle (a low budget Hungarian film), which is on my computer, but there wouldn't be much point as probably nobody would get it, so the game would become boring.

But someone did get the 'crappy Asian film'

Anyway is it Gaijin's turn?

I know someone did. As I said with my example someone probably would get it. The point is that most people will lost interest in the game. You can still make it difficult by having abstract stills from big films. But it takes the fun out of the game if you have no-one guessing and one other person who has seen the film ends up guessing it.

Several people in fact.

As it goes, its a fairly popular film, usually seen as a lightweight/low budget/light hearted comedy epic precedent to the likes of Hero, Crouching Tiger/ Flying Daggers etc

You'll prob have to wait till this evening for mine as i'm at work, unless khimbar wants to go as he was onto the right idea.

You could argue that people have progressively tried to post more cult offerings to make this harder, but where do you stop with foreign films?

The fact is, martial arts films do have a significant following in this country, and Fong Sai Yuk isn't a particular obscure example.

Agreed, The Legend of Fong Sai Yuk is great and hardly obscure.

The people saying they don't want obscure Asian films need to get their facts straight; just because it's Asian and they haven't seen it doesn't make it obscure.

Not so. It's fine to post obscure films as long as you give adequate clues alongside them.

I remember posting Valerie a Týden Divu here a while back which probably no-one on this forum has seen, but since I gave clues along with the stills, someone guessed it.

So only one person knew it, even after clues?

The whole point in games is to have fun and involve people, this is the reason why Trivial Pursuit doesn't have questions like 'when was the Law of Property Act introduced?'.

It's a game, granted, but where would be the fun if they were so easy that everyone guessed correctly. Besides everyone waited 12 hours for the Fong Sai Yuk stills anyway and it was guessed correctly in under 1 hour 30 mins. Where's the problem?

Lust Caution is big though and by a famous director.

True enough but I thought I best post clues to please the Asian film haters :D.
