Obviously the new GC's are about to be released and I haven't sorted out what PSU to get that is going to have four PCI-E power connectors on it.

My "measly" Enermax liberty only has two, so it's going to have to go.. :(

Ideally it needs to fit in the lower section of the Silverstone TJ07 and preferably be modular.

Help

Edit to make the specific part of my question more clear and also to add...

I'm not looking for some mega powerful PSU, I realise that I won't
need 1 great scott Jigawatts to power it.

Corsair HX 620W
Enermax 620W
PC Power and Cooling 610W

The HX is modular, although others are available at various price points.

1000W is definitely overkill.

Seriously guys, these cards will take, what 130W (if that?) each.
I doubt you'd need more than 500W, even with a few HDD/Optical drives.

Get a good brand (Corsair? :p) 520W, or 600W if you want to be more than sure.

No such thing as overkill when it comes to pc's :p

Anyway i only linked to that one as an example... just buy the one you can afford. Personally id get the higher rated ones to make the buy better value in the long term. Who knows what kind of power drain the next nvidia cards will draw in a years time :D

The thermaltakes are very good but a bit pricy. Then again the PSu isnt something to skimp on when it comes to quality...

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...maltake ToughPower 1000W Modular Power Supply

I need four connectors (two per 4870)
This says there is only three doesn't it ?

Toughpower 1000W/1200W power supplies come with three of the latest 8-pin PCI-E connectors required for the next generation Nvidia and ATI graphics cards. These new defined 8-pin connectors are downward compatible with the existing 6-pin PCI-E connectors. Thus, with the included three 6-pin/8-pin connectors, Toughpower 1000W/1200W support up to three high-end graphic cards.

So that one's out of the running.

No mention of the amount of connectors on the Corsair HX620 at all.

I have the Enermax 620w now..

Pc Power and Cooling 610w = 2 PCI-E and 15 Drive Connectors

Not doing too well with those recommendations mate.:p

Its got 3x 8 pin and 3x 6 pin PCI-E so enough for 3 cards. 1x8 and 1x6 each card. As i understand it you can use 1x8 and 1x6 instead of 2x 8 when using more than one card. Cant remember where i read it though.

Im in the same boat as you mate.

Currently running a Corsair HX 620w and will be upgrading to 2 4870X2 late august.

I'm looking at the Enermax Galaxy at the moment. They come in two different flavours, 850w and 1000w.
It has 2 PCI-e connecters natively and an extra two modular. So it will certainly cater for your needs.

Certainly not the cheapest PSU but they have an excellent build quality and are very energy efficient.
Worth noting though that they are slightly longer than your average PSU but i'm sure you won't have a problem in the TJ07.

Hope this helps!

Chris

HX620 is a no as it have only have 2 pci-e connecters. PCP&C on the other hand does have 4...

You could look at getting those 4p-molex to pci-e adapters but ive never trusted them!

The PCP&C has 2 6pin and 2 8pin it seems ( after reading a review of it ).

So ok for crossfire... 1x6 pin and 1x8pin per card.

The toughpower i linked to has an extra 1x6 pin and 1x8 pin should you want a tri card setup! As according to all ive read the 8pin ones can be used in the 6pin as well. I dont have a dual 6 pin card so i cant try it personally.

Edit: Seems you get a few adapters that turn the 8pins into 6pins. So all in all it would have 6x 6pins or 3x8 pins a 3x6pins :p

Didn't fancy the galaxy due to it's size, otherwise I would have..
