Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo: HD Remix Beta Thread (XBLA)

Well i was going to get this as a beta, but i still haven't got around to building my arcade stick.

I have a sanwa ball top joystick, 9 buttons with cherry microswithes, a wired 360 pad, and a sheet of 3/4" MDF here, waiting for me to construct a stick. It's been sitting around since before Christmas.

I'll have to get a decent overlay printed and get it built before the full release. This is the only version of SF2 i couldn't finish in the arcade, so i've no chance with a 360 pad.

Apparently this doesn't run very smooth because of the way the game timings and animation works, they have lovely hi-res sprites and graphics, but are trying to keep it as true to the original as possible in terms of gameplay and timings etc. so it all looks a bit jerky in motion.

Also I am worried about the netcode, no 2d fighter as ever had decent netcode.

Hopefully they can fix these issues as this could be one of my personal favorite games in existence.

I would love anyone who gets a chance to play this on 360 to post as much information about it as possible.

Well, i caved in and got it.

I haven't managed to join a game yet, and my xbox has frozen twice (out of 2) while trying to join a game.

I played one quick game online, just a random ranked match. It seemed to be OK, one instance of lag but nothing like the horrors of Hyper Fighting. I won quite easily. I will need to play more game to have a vaild opinion though.

I never should have sold you my arcade stick. Rookie mistake :(

Snap, my exact same experience, thankfully (kindoff) it is the game as it is happening to many people, and not our 360's about to die!!

I will try and play again later on this evening.

Right, I have had a bit more of a play. I have to say this game crashes pretty frequently ( I hope isn't gonna kill my Xbox, a falcon one).

The tournament mode is great. Again, no real lag issues, the game play was pretty consistent and is good fun. One thing I miss from hyper fighting is not being able to actually watch other matches, you just see the health meters go down in tournament mode and an indicator of how many rounds have been won by each player.

I like it overall, I am just worried about the crashing.

SF2 was good back in the day, but by todays standards it's a pretty poor game

I couldnt disagree with you more. For me it's the game that just keeps giving and never gets old. You can walk away from it for years and come back to it, and have just as much fun as the last time you played.

If I had to choose only one game I could ever play SF2 HF would be it

I have to use my wired 360 pad as that has a rairly reasonable DPAD. My wireless ones are unusable in terms of performing special moves.

I really liking this game. Had some odd experiences with lag though where characters suddenly change positions. It gets really annoying with bad connections, the game just becomes totally random as it tries to predict what happens.
