After building up my new rig in my old case(thx overclockers for sending me a duff case) i flashed the bios on the mobo abit ip35 pro and now the overclocking guide will not work..
Could some nice person who bought the the Abit mobo bundle please tell me the bios version number.
Or i could download all the bios versions till i get the right one,can i even flash the bios with an older version anyway

Hi mate

I am pity sure it is the Bios*Issue Date:2007/09/06 that you need.
I did not buy the bundle but the mobo is now about 6 months old, I remember the bios date saying 2007/09/06 i'm sure.

I have updated my bios to the latest one, I have the OC guide but have not got around to trying it yet...****!!! I will probably have the same problem now when I come to OC:mad::mad::mad:

Many thx neo36uk

Stupid idea to flash the bios i know but my bro did it while i was at work and he did not back up the old bios...thx again

This is not good,so far i have tried 4 bios versions including the latest one and i still cannot get the pc to run at 3.3 ghz.
With the O clocked settings i can get so far installing xp then i get the BSOD

If you want a granutee buy a kettle,totally ****** off and tired

i wouldnt install XP overclocked...

Its always best to install an OS on default settings. Worry about overclocking once you've got windows up to date and all your drivers

i Did install xp first,then into the bios i went and followed the instructions to the letter regarding the overclocking saved the settings then booted the machine fails to get into windows and just keeps trying to boot.

So after i get back into the bios and i do all the O/C instructions again but this time i set the 1st boot for my dvd/cdrom with win xp disc in,save and exit machine boots and says hit any key to boot from dvd,windows setup now runs,i select partition format drive and windows starts to install i do all the regional settings and put in the xp serial number windows says 39 mins till
completion then i get the BSOD.
After undoing the O/C settings and reverting to normal settings i boot up and windows then proceeds to finish installing.

I have now tried the above with all 7 bios versions including the 1st and the latest from Abit.com
I really do believe i am stumped and would welcome any kind of suggestion or help,Overclockers support could not even tell me the bios version of the motherboard,what they did say was go back 2 if that do work go back another 2.

So not only can i get the O/C to work i am still waiting for a replacement
antec 1200 case which was picked up on monday by city link.

After spending 570 quid i have to say my overclockers experience has not been a happy one:(:(:(:(

I'm still a little confused...You say you installed XP without any overclocking, then say you have overclocked it then went to install XP but it stopped during installation because the system was overclocked?

Maybe I'm mis-reading something, or I didnt explain myself very good, but I meant, first thing is first, set everything back to what it should be, no overclock etc (running at 2.4ghz). Install windows, drivers and updates.

Then when you've done that post back here

Right lol, We'll take it little step by little step lol. I don't have that guide that you have, so I'll tell you the settings I have for my kit, which is very similar to what you have (Q6600, IP35 Pro 2gb OCZ 6400 Plat RAM)

Now we know it isn't a hardware problem (as everything is booting fine at stock levels) We'll first aim for 3Ghz;

First things first, get hold of the following programs to help you diagnose any further problems;

CPUZ - For information on your CPU
CoreTemp - This will see if your temps are ok
PRIME95 - To test for stability of the overclock

Once you have got these installed, restart and go into the BIOS. These are the settings I have for my q6600 @ 3Ghz on BIOS Date 07/09/2007;

First go into the uGuru menu

Then change CPU to User define
Change External Clock to 333Mhz
Multiplyer to x9
Dram 1:1.2 if you have the PC8500 stuff you can muck about with this to make your ram run at 1066(I only have 6400-800mhz so mine is set to 1:1.2)
PCI = 100Mhz

Then go to the voltages menu within uGuru and set them to the following;

User Define
CPU - 1.295
DDR - 2.1
CPU VTT - 1.2
MCH - 1.25
ICH - 1.05
ICHIO - 1.50
DDR REF - 0%
CPU GTRLREF - 67%
CPU GTRL1&3 - 67%

Then go back to the initial BIOS screen and go into "Advance Bios Features" and go into the "CPU Features" sub menu and change the following options;

Thermal control - Disabled
LimitCPUID - Disabled
CIE - Disabled
Execute Disable bit - Enabled
Virtualisation Tech - Enabled
EIST - Disabled

Then save and exit and see if you can get into windows ok. Post back if you can

Hope this helps

OK let me start by saying many thx for your time,while i wait for my buddy
to get off work and do me a print out of your instructions
i will give you the guide i got from OC just the bits you need to know.

cpu operating speed from 2399(266) to user define
external clock from 272mhz to 367 mhz
dram speed(cpu):dram from default to 1:1:25(ddr2 -918)
pci-express clock from 100mhz to 101 mhz

voltages control menu from auto to user define
cpu core voltage to 1.4525v
ddr2 voltage to 2.2v
mch 1.25v voltage to 1.37v
cpu vtt 1.2v voltage to 1.27v
ich 1.05v voltage to 1.15v
ichio 1.5v voltage to 1.55v

cpu feature menu
c1e function disable
eist function disable

advanced chipset features menu
change the dram timing selectable from auto to manual(my bios screen says speed or manual)
set the cas latency time to 5
set the ras to cas delay to 5
set the ras pre precharge to 5
set the precharge delay to 15
set the init display to PCIEx

Again many thx and i will get back to you later

this is what cpuz reports

in the bios in voltages section the lowest i can select is 1.3250

Ok so i have tried your OC settings bearing in mind i could only select cpu voltage 1.3250
the pc booted and i saw the windows logo(just for a nano second) before it restarts again..:(

With the OC's guide i dont see anything at all and i have to reset..

Those temps are fine, so it isn't shutting the system off because of heat...

Does your system seem stable running at stock? I would try running Prime95 blend test overnight to rule out any hardware problems first

edit: saying that though, reading the bundle they are saying its "guaranteed to overclock" so you could if all else fails say you've gone by the guide and it wont work with those settings

Seems like a plan i'll try that a bit later b4 i go to bed any suggestions as to long to run proggie ¿

I did mention that i flashed the bios and i did not back up the old one,rang overclockers and they could'ent tell me what version of bios the mobo was

i'd leave it overnight if you can, it needs to be the PRIME95 that uses all of the cores to make sure everything is tested.

You could try putting the BIOS version I have on (dated 07/09/2007) as it seems they've changed a couple of the options since

just tried flashing bios with version 11 dated 07/09/2007 and the pc would not boot into windows also it would not reset had to turn off psu.

yes i did clear cmos settings via the jumper and after trying 4 times to boot into windows i was presented with a checksum error press f1 to continue or del for setup,i choose f1 got into windows and reflashed back to latest one.

EIST - Disabled ? thats why it showing multi at 6 instead of 8

have you got the ram at right volts, this could be problem if not, the pro board kinda fussy if volts & timings aint set manualy
