Anyone got a road legal quad?

I'm running 1" all round on a car.

I'm guessing the quad might not actually be effected as badly on the back axle as the rear drive already has an 18" gap betwen the bearing and the wheel (guessing some huge 2"+ bearing on each side?), but things are different up front where the bearing is usually only 3/4"-1" wide with the wheel hub only 1" away from it. If you push the wheel another 2" out you're dramatically increasing the leverage being put on them.

Helmets are optional, although suggested!

TBH I've seen a mix of people on them, not just pikies lol.

Understood SB, although on mine I had it serviced when I got it (replaced all the bearings etc..., it was serviced regularly, and it didn't need them replacing in a year and a half)

All four corners on mine are grumbling, then again a car puts a bit more weight on bearings than a quad. It's that or you're being too gentle ;)

I didn't thrash the pants off it, however I wasn't gentle :p, and remember; its been belted around tracks etc as well.

I was considering fitting " spacers " to my 306 to see if it felt more planted in the corners, until I suddently thought " these spacers are going to give the bearing A LOT of gip " and didn't buy them :p

^^^ We are talking sport/performance quads, not big 4X4 utility jobbies. However I'll be amazed if a farmer is using a sport quad, instead of a Grizzly etc

Mine aren't on the pug, they're on the esjay.

i think one of the problems with them is you dont need to do a test to ride one
anybody with a car licence can just jump on one
its the same with my trike if you have never riden a bike before that dont matter
i think there should be a change in the law it might save some lives

Every person (100% without exception) I have seen driving/riding any of the following:

Big thumper single cylinder enduro bike on the road
Quad
Dune buggy type thing

has been driving/riding like an absolute prize bell end. Now we all like a bit of a hoon but there's a time and a place, but these people are motoring through town centres etc on one wheel or at full pelt.

Why? Are people incapable of piloting these vehicles around towns etc in a normal fashion? Is there something about them that turns normal folk into maniacs? It seems to affect some drivers of Mitsubishi Warriors etc too, but to a lesser extent.

I saw a chap with full motorbike gear on race leather , helmet gloves etc in a quad. Sensible guy if you ask me.

All vehicles seem to affect people differently.

For example, I spent a couple hours helping a mate on a 7.5t recovery truck today, spent the time looking at T&A :D

Trike, bike, keep the RX7 or fail i'm afraid.

Quads are made for off road and have a tendency to flip. Know 2 folk that has came off and broke there arms on them.

Had 125's for years..Never got around to doing my test though..A quad i can just hop on and ride on my car licence, besides bikes are common i want something different, hence a quad..:)

if youve had a125 for years you proberly wont have to do a test then :\

On the bay they range from about £500-£6000, (yamaha blaster to a yamaha raptor or something similar)
