Nothing wrong with a pair of 3870's, but as everyone says 4850's will move You to the next level in games ;)

I wonder how many similar posts we will start getting ?

Just ran some tests with the same Kit, the 4850's are lots more powerful but 2x 4870's are enough to push most systems to the limit..look elsewhere. Board Cpu etc + please don't tell us You game at 1280/1024 :D.....just seen 1600x1200..ok still alittle low for the GFX power Your packing
 
I was hoping to use 24AA 16AF with v-sync and have smooth 60fps till the cows come home, but alas I was wrong. I've been trying my all my games & T.B.H little or no improvement. Come back 3870's all is forgiven. :(
 
Just tried 8x and yeah things r much better, think I'm flogging a dead horse cause I use to have it x4 Edge Detect (x12). Cost me a pact for minimal performance increase. I guess I was expecting more. Caught up in all the hype. Doesn't do what it says on the tin..

Your pretty committed to keeping your graphics updated! :D

Can't say I blame you though, what with the resale value of your Crossfired HD3870's dropping slowly as people become aware of the HD4870's muscle!

Before u headbutt your monitor may I suggest waiting to see if newer drivers improve things?
 
£100 to a m8, cauze I'm a nice chap like that, and yes tried a re-install of my os. Gonna cry in2 my pillow now, and then probably headbutt my monitor 2moz..

ignore the NV trolls with nothing better to do, i had 3870 crossfire also for quite awhile and am thinking of going 4850 crossfire too ...sounds nice! :)

Which one is msaa? In the ccc I only see box, narrow tent, wide tent, and edge detect? frankly, I find all these different AA modes confusing, especially when they look all fuzzy...
