Tyre wear question

I've just had a look at my sisters Focus, and the tyres are worn very unevenly.

The inside of the drivers side has worn very badly and split (causing a puncture), the passenger tyre is worn on the outside, not to the same extent but it's illegal.

What is the most likely cause of this? I'll make sure the tyre place checks the tracking/wheel alignment when the tyres are replaced - but I'm wondering if there's anything else that might be the cause - as it's much considering it drives straight enough (i.e. it doesn't seem to be tracking to the left/right).

it's the only scenario i can think of where you do a lot of sustained turning to the right

Persuade?? sounds like she needs a bit of a crash course on car maintainence.. does she not know that she should replace both tyres at once?

You don't know the half of it, she said the steering was making a noise - yet we checked the PAS fluid and it was bone dry!

The other front tyre is illegal, I've told her I'll report it to the plod if she doesn't get it changed!
