Have serially cheated on a long term girlfriend when I was at uni.

Grown up now and would never do that to my current girlfriend.

My ex (and her family) accused me of cheating with a friend I was close with, which I never. So I told them to all go jump/dumped her, then went out with the friend.

The general rule I use is "Can I tell my partner what I did without her getting upset?" If the answer is no, then it would be cheating. And no, never have, never will, would end one relationship before starting another (though hope never to have to do that).

Indeed. I agree completely, if it's not love and people are together, they've got to accept it when one wants to split. It's typical though, that even if one doesn't love the other, they still don't want them to split for whatever reason*.
