I have a 46" Sharp LCD and it works mint via HDMI at 1080p with my PS3 and DVD Player but i have connected the 360 up via the VGA cable (Official) And i just get "Out of range" when i set it to 1920x1080...

Any ideas?

Grrr just found this in the manual...

• Refer to page 29 for AV signals (480i/480p/576i/576p/
720p/1080i/1080p). The analogue D-sub terminal (EXT7) is
not compatible with 480i/576i/1080p signals.

:( Need a component then...

To be honest i imagine your TVs scaler chip will be equal if not better than the 360 one. Running the 360 at 720p then upscaling it on the TV will probably look exactly the same as the 360 upscaling it.

Yeah its not HDMI.. I am not bothered about it especially to buy yet another cable... 720p will be fine for the couple of games i want to play... :)

Dont worry too much, hardly any games on PS3 or 360 are actually in 1080p. Its just what upscales your tv or the console. If your TV is good then it will either be better or very similar anyway.

I plug my laptop into my new tv and it works at 1920x1080 does that mean my tv supports 1080p over vga?

I only got the tv last week, but I love it so far :D Just don't have ANY HD content LOL

1080p on the 360 is pointless, the scaler on your tv is likely to be just as good so upscaling is not really noticable. Very few games actually run in 1080p especially on the 360.

Ok well I'm very tired and have no idea what's going on then :p

Edit: Oh I see, I wrote a comment very similar to what Jaffa said. I didn't actually read the thread before posting :o. Time for bed I think :D
