The dogs at this current time wont be the dogs later this year or early next.

Might be worth asking the question just before you upgrade :)

4870 is since you can get 2 for the price of 1 280GTX and 4 for the price of 2 and for the price of 4 280GTX you could get 8 4870's so either way the 4870's are more powerfull if you spend the same amount of money so they the dogs!

Infact for 4 280GTX's maybe 16 4870's??

I ignored regardless of value for money as thats just silly.

Yeah sorry Its probably more single card….and asking now as its probably what the dogs around now would be my card as I’d not buy cutting edge. If it’s the dogs just now at £350 then its will still be a great card later at £198.

And do you guys think that twin cards will just be the Norm I got the impression that it only added 15% gain over the single cards in most cases. i know this x2 thing is just two bolted on the one card but is 2x 2xcards really the way things are going?

GTX280 is the fastest single card and at £422, the 4870 can be had for udner £200 thats over twice as cheap and the 4870 sometimes performs close to the GTX280 and infact higher and seems just as good/ better with AA.

Thanks for the info, would you say there has been a great jump in performance since my 6800GT which has stood me so well, plays BF2 PR 7.5 great and did play SHIII well when I used to play it. Had MS X-Flight and it could kill my card off…..

Going from a 6800GT to one of the recent cards would be an immense increase in performance, image quality, everything. You're going to be blown away.

Posts like this really annoy me.

a: 30 seconds and you can google or search
b: regardless of money

:(

posts like yours really bug me also.
anyway

i would reccomend a 4870 you can allways add another later. just out of curiosity is it to go in the system you have at the moment ? as you have a 6800 and that suggests your system isnt the newest and most of the new high end gfx cards can be bottle necked with older systems limiting there performance

whatever:rolleyes:

Adding another later means a whole new mobo.

Might have been worth a mention to state that one of the newer cards will probably not work in the op's PCI-E slot.

Telling the truth I like my system its been great but when I upgraded three years ago I thought there would be a massive change and I was a bit disappointed but its all jumped on so much with quad cpu’s and twin cards.

This is what ive been using for over three years….

System Type X86-based PC
Processor x86 Family 15 Model 12 Stepping 0 AuthenticAMD ~2403 Mhz
Total Physical Memory 1,536.00 MB
Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM)
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT
Think the new one will be the PC I always wanted…

Its more a new system from top to toe so not really an upgrade of the old. As for easy i do read a lot but to be fair every card is the best in reviews in fact in one web site you get " this is the best card on the market" but you said that for the other four cards just out....on here you get a better idea.
