Hello there, just doing the frustrating job of moving house and was wondering if anyone knew any rubbish tips in Bristol? I'm located near Stokes Croft, any ideas?

(Yes, I forsee the joke that Stokes Croft is a dump)

*cough acidhell2 cough*

Hi,

Ive just done a similar job and live in Bristol, there are no 'rubbish tips' any more. They are now recycling centres but have skips for general (or non recycled) waste. There is 2 sites I take my stuff too. 1 is near Saltford, the other is near easton - kind of near temple meads. They are pretty strict with what you can take i.e no vans.

Thanks for your swift reply, we have a couple of bags of non-recyclable general and food waste, will it be ok to take them?

(Dont want to go all that way to be told to bog off!)

I'm here.

Darn it what are they called know recycle something or the other?
There's one closer but not sure where and without there new fangled name I can't find there website on google

However type in 51.528764, -2.563226 in google maps

Theres a gert big one in Backwell (on the way to Weston) as well.
My Dad got rid of an old sofa recently, he said on the first trip he made up there (which is about 15 mins from his house) they dropped off the sofa, then went back to get some more stuff, back to the tip and someone had already swiped the sofa.....do people make a career out of this sort of thing or something?

Oh and I resisited the temptation to make any Stokes Croft jokes :p

Have they improved the road down to the Saltford one? not been down there in years! (used to live in Saltford!)

I ended up going to the St. Philips Recycling Centre, no problem finding the general waste bin and actually thought it was rather good. If I was to rate this dump, I'd say 10/10 :D

I'm in Clifton next year next door to Channings, hoorah!

A few years ago round here there was a big incinerator where we could take anything, no matter what it was, just turn up, reverse up to the edge (no safety rails either) and just fling everything in. No sorting into bags or anything.

That was until they came out with all this green nonsense and demolished it. :(

Glad you got it sorted.

When your doing a job like a house clearance its hard to sort everything in the right catorgorie. I separate stuff like electricals& monitors etc. but everything else I chuck in the general skip, preferably when the staff arn't looking as they like to have a romage through the stuff i'm chucking in.
